Is the donut button an EA strategy to get you blow through donuts?

I believe the general consensus is: yes they did.

If they wanted players to avoid accidentally spending donuts in this manner they'd put an 'are you sure?' box up, just like they do when putting items into storage or selling them.

If EA had any scruples, they wouldn't make them cost so much in the first place. Having one of the highest grossing games in the App Store, they've surely made enough money to cover their costs.

When I first started playing I lost all my donuts doing this, now I ensure I don't have spare donuts so this can't happen.

I've never spend any of my donuts like that, the cancel button has always worked just fine for me.

I'm not sure what the consensus actually is. The people most likely to post about this subject are also most likely to be those who feel aggrieved, hence leading to the perhaps erroneous conclusion that everyone here feels EA is engaged in some conspiracy to deprive us of our donuts. Don't get me wrong. I wish they would implement some kind of confirmation button; but I'm not convinced that their failure to do so represents some sort of under-handed programming practice.

This was meant to more of a tongue in cheek joke about how ultimately I'm responsible for not hitting that button. I don't actually believe it's a conspiracy by EA, but it is frustrating nonetheless . :)

I don't think there is anything sinister about it, but IMHO the lack of a confirm button when spending donuts was a well thought out strategy by the game developers to get users to spend more donuts. You can not sell a bush back to the company store without a confirm, so it wouldn't be hard to just add that feature to the donut spending sequence.

I just make sure to spend any donuts as soon as they get them. Between my big fat fingers and multi tasking while playing TSTO, I have accidentally spent many donuts. The one time I actually bought donuts I carefully went to the store and got my halloween stuff immediately, making sure not to let my fingers hit the wrong thing on the way.

I've lost a few, but generally just let the time count collect it for me instead of taking that risk-you should really only have to do it once to learn. Either way, EA needs a confirm button.

Unless they have an unscrupulous development team, more likely its a Marketing strategy in a company as large as EA. A LOT of discussion and thought goes into these little nuances in the initial requirements and design phases of a software product or service, and Marketing usually leads the charge in anything that can "enhance" revenue generation...

I think I did once very early in the game.. but for the most part I've completely avoided hitting that button, and I know for sure I never will. I always collect all the individual money and XP, too. All you have to do is make sure you never tap in the middle of the right side of the screen where that button always is. The window centers itself every time you select a building so it's always in the same place. You just have to keep scrolling to make sure what you're collecting from is always positioned on the left side of the screen (or just anywhere that isn't that hot spot).

A donut usage confirmation button is heavily needed.

My. 2 year old girl killed nearly all the 60 that I bought this way, so due to family 'issues' (lol) I won't be getting any more.

On the daughter note, I wish that would add a slide and swing to complete the park to stop her going on about " daddy park, we needs a parks daddy for little buoys and goorls"

If you don't tap the money, after 3 seconds it gets automatically collected. Why not just tap a building/character, then move onto the next building/character and so on. If there is money covering a building/character just move to another part of your Springfield and come back.

I've been using this technique and I've never wasted donuts by accidently click the rush button. Plus you don't have to tap like a maniac.

Agree totally that a donut use confirmation button would improve the situation as I too have lost a few myself.

But since losing some donuts, I now follow the daft punk route and let the game self collect and so far no more lost donuts.

I do, however, wish EA would address something annoying about Cletus Farm, I don't know why after selecting a crop to grow you then get a secondary dialogue box on the game screen, no need for it IMO as I've almost lost donuts accidentally hitting the rush button here a few times, managed to hit the cancel button.

Here again are very sensible suggestions that EA would pick up if they moderated the forum.
