I can still only get two handshakes on tiles, channel 6 and farm. I have two feeder towns and only one registered.

I noticed today that I had 4 handshakes for my news station. I don't have a feeder town so can't check if I can get more than that, but clearly that shows you can get more than 2 and at least 4.

I am not sure but I've read in some threads that you have to log in between your neighbors' tapping on the tile/farm to get additional handshakes. Don't know if it is true or not though.

I think this is true. Over night i had a few friends that always click my farm/ch6 visit but i only had 2 handshakes on each. During the day when visiting my town between clicks the additional handshakes stacked.

So I confess that I'm confused about what the recommended course of action is in our own towns. I now understand that when visiting we should tap things like the Squidport gate, the farm, etc. multiple times. But I also read on the forum (perhaps in this thread) that we shouldn't tap on anything in our towns so visitors have more to tap. I have tried this the last couple of days and am not getting enough taps to make it make sense. I am leaving major $$ and XP on the table. Can someone point me to where I can get clarification? Thanks!

That's too much. I leave my six brown houses, Kwik-E-Mart, Krusty Burger, The Simpsons and Flanders house. They are low income so I don't lose much. Along with the graffiti-able buildings, SP and CH6, that leaves something for a few neighboreenos to tap. You really don't have to do what I do for others since those buildings cycle in ten minutes or less. And yes, you are losing out on money since the building timers do not reset until they are tapped.

Yes, I also leave the Simpsons house, Flanders house, the brown house, Kwik-E-Marts (I owned two) and the Krusty Burger for my neighbors to tap, in addition to the SP tile.
