Ive been playing for about 3-4 years now and am in DESPERATE need of more land! I've spent a lot of time and real money making it look nice and now I have so many buildings stored and on top of each other because of lack of land. Also, the prices for the last land update where ridiculous, up to $1500000! Come on EA!!!!

I bought a Boat Load for Christmas and have very little land left -- I believe one square left on the right side of my Springfield, then I'm all out. I have about 920 Donuts and not really anything to do with them since I'm waiting for some land!

I would love more land, MORE LAND PLEASE! However is two strips going to be enough? I have a large forest area and Springfield park making a few areas cramped, I have refused to redesign these. I know as soon as that extra land is relaxed and my town breathes out it will be filled up quickly.

I want 4 strips of new land or nothing.

I'm joking. Just one more bloody square will do!

My forested area and my large designs for areas like Burns' Manor is what's taking up all my land... a lot of Tapped Out is designing, and I think it stinks that people who are feeding them money and have the up-to-date devices are punished.

The problem is, you can't really solve the problem just for players with up to date devices. If this was a standalone, one player game, the game could include an auto-detect of the OS and specs and allow or not an amount of additional land based on whether the device can handle it. However, as it isn't just a standalone, one player game, the developers have to allow for the fact that players may have up to 100 neighbours who also might be on new or old devices.

How would you handle making more land available to newer devices, where that player has neighbours whose devices can't handle a Springfield with that additional land? Only let them view a proportion of the SF? What happens if an evetn critical object (like the cannon) is placed in the land that the neighbour can't see?

    That's not going to work.

For a game like this, which EA clearly want to keep working on as many different devices and OSs as possible, there have to be compromises, and one of those compromises is that players with newer devices have to understand that the game can't be built to utilise the specs of those devices without excluding a whole lot of players who don't have them.

Players are not being punished, and it doesn't stink, it just means EA have placed a higher priority on keeping the game active on a wide variety of devices than on meeting the needs of those with the newer ones. If you don't like that, that's your prerogative (and I would very much like some more land myself to be honest) but I am pretty confident that EA will release more land when they feel they can do so without inconveniencing/upsetting/cutting off players with older devices.

After all, they likely know far better than we do what proportion of the players are on older devices.

I have no more land and still have one more building to unlock. The land they gave us on the last update was a joke. Guess I have to take down the few houses I have left. Don't see how people have land left, there SF must be so jammed packed. Or they don't have as many iteams and building as I do.

I will never understand why anyone, ANYONE can come on a particular thread and argue, or diss someone else's request for something. If it doesnt affect you, then why come on and complain that someone else is requesting something? Oh wait, I know, being a troll is a hobby... If you disagree, move on.

I have been playing the game since it came out. I have almost everything that has been made available, everything so far that I pretty much wanted, and need more space. They offer items, decorations, and characters. If anyone wants to add items to make their town look cute, or attractive, they need space.

I have had to remove most my trees, and many other decorative items, because of the item limit, fences, newspaper stands, etc.

The castles and items with those are all just squished on the bottom layer of land, as no place to actually place them. Sad.

Some of the towns I visit they people opt for little to no roads, thus maximizing space for other things. If EA wants people who have been playing for a few years to buy new stuff, give us more land!!!

Even with buildings having parking space- as they should, adding 3D effects, being creative and constructing parks and forests, etc. I really don't see how people are running out of space. I personally think my town is pretty creative and well spaced and I still have two and a half rows of land left to buy.

That being said, I'm not saying it isn't an issue. I'm just saying it's not an issue I face or ever think I will. So being that you can never have TOO much land I don't see why EA isn't giving what so many people want.

I would hope that they also understand where their revenue comes from too.

If they have 10% of their users on significantly less powerful devices, that only tells one story.
They probably also understand the revenue from the players on these devices too.

EA's balancing act therefore is to ensure that the high spenders are well catered for and any loss of users is limited to those with less (or no) revenue tied to them...

    This is a difficult proposition.

    Hi all,

This seems like the perfect place to ask... What is the current size of Springfield?

I've read it was 13x13, but it seems bigger...at least 14x14, but there seems to even be a 15th strip, being parallel to the water.
I would like to know in order to properly develop my Rotterdam, ehrm, I mean Springfield.

Actually, that is a very interesting question that I hadn't thought about up to now.

Clearly EA have a very good idea of which players spend money (and how much) by looking at sales, donut issues etc via the various appstores. Their server logs I imagine also tell them what OSs and possibly even devices are connecting to the servers, and how often (and IP addresses).

However, are those things tied together?

EA will undoubtedly know that 'dcacooper' has spent for more money than he should have done on this game, and they know that an iPad Air running iOS8 connects via an IP address that belongs to dcacooper's ISP, but I doubt that they would know that the iPad Air belongs to dcacooper, especially as the IP address that my iPad uses changes frequently - my ISP uses dynamic addresses that are updated every couple of days (apparently) and I log in from various connections at home, university and the office.

If EA are not able to tie specific OSs or devices to specific user accounts then they cannot judge the older devices by how much revenue they bring in, in which case it makes sense to simply keep the game usable on as many as possible.

Or maybe they can. My network programming experience is limited, but I haven't seen any system that went further than logging the IP addresses of incoming connections and checking the login details on entry, but didn't store those together for future reference.

Web coding wise, it is very possible to record the (type of) device and OS etc for any interaction with a site's page.
Not sure if that would apply here, or be possible here, but I'd imagine that it would be :)

However, even assuming it could be, there will need to be a big tipping point...
And it doesn't help when you've got multiple different types of platforms to cater for - iOS on various types of iPads, the gazillion different Android platforms (combo of hardware specs and os levels).
Tsto doesn't run native on Mac OS, so at least that's out of the equation :-)

I don't fancy being on their cust service desk at the point they announce that (say) iPad 2 is no longer supported...

Hopefully they will come up with a clever method. At the end of the day it's about 200-300 squares with some pictures on them...

I recently switched from using my cell phone to play Tapped Out to now using my Kindle HD7. The town is T-I-N-Y! I am going to have to nuke it and use less stuff and try to build more efficiently with less roads to make my town look better.

    Daily player since Oct.2013.
Wait until you see my town.
Not only will you get ideas for your own, but it will be one of the best, most creative and organized towns you've EVER seen! That I promise.
Now I may not be able to add you immediately as I have max friends, but if you are willing to wait for the add, you will be happy you did. This I also promise. I do have some friends who have stopped playing, so I will be adding friends on a first come first serve basis right now.
Just know that I remove friends as soon as they stop playing and add one from the pending list so that my entire friends list remains active.
    Happy Tapping Tappers!

I have all the land and I don't necessarily need anymore land. I could use it but I don't need it. We might see it by summer I'd guess.
