House Farming.

Prev134
House-farming is about making money, not the number of houses. It's an idea, not entirely the execution.

Its farming when u cram all the houses together but if u make it like a neighbourhood it shouldnt be called farming because there arent that many different coloured houses in TSTO

As others have stated, House Farming isn't defined by a number but the execution; placing houses against each other with no roads or paths to make the look like a neighborhood would be called farming.

I don't not add people because they have a farm. That doesn't bother me it's their way of playing. The reason I don't add them is because they make my game crash.

Honestly who cares if someone "house farms". There are no set rules to as to how you want to play the game. If you happen to add someone and see that they have a farm simply delete them from your list.

:x You don't HAVE to delete because of House Farms. It's not fair to our fellow players who farm, as they get shunned because they are using a trick. I have about 4 or 5 House Farmin' Friends, and it doesn't bother me.

True, there are no set rules for playing the game but I'm sure a lot of people on this forum would agree that a lot of the fun of this game is derived from using your creativity and imagination to design a unique and interesting looking Springfield. Visiting other well-designed towns can be a source of inspiration...I'm looking forward to incorporating things like hedge mazes, football stadiums and 3D illusions that I've seen on this forum into my own town.

Also, content updates are so infrequent with this game that you really don't need to farm to afford the latest buildings. Just play at your own pace and you'll soon catch up to the rest of us stuck on level 23!

One day there will be no more content updates for this game and there will be no reason for any of us to play anymore. When that day comes what would you rather have to show for the dozens, maybe hundreds of hours you've invested in this game : a cool-looking Springfield you can show off to your friends or an endless array of brown and purples houses plus millions of pretend dollars in the bank with nothing to spend them on?

In all honesty, I have about 40 brown houses and about 12 purple houses BUT I make sure they are ALL connected to a road. I also intend to do something with them eventually. Right now, my purple houses are arranged in a pattern so it looks like a neighborhood and my brown houses surround muntz house, cletus' farm and the nuclear plant. I'm just saving up to get the post office. After that, I may wait till after Dec 5 to see if there are any updates that require money before I start my renovations again.

So IMO, I think it's a matter of how you want to distribute the houses and a matter of perspective. Some people just don't think it's an eyesore. I'm just a little OCD and can't stand seeing all my own houses stuck together with no roads connecting them. I'm too obsessed with how the houses look next to each other. :D

Maybe the person farming houses enjoys to play the game that way as I stated there is no proper way to play. Or maybe the person thats farming is doing it so they can build a nest egg of money so that they can have a disposable income to buy whatever they want when updates come and new buildings are available and they plan on investing the time to make thoer Springfield to do it

exactly....i am currently farming to buy up all the land and then rebuild my town. i will resell my houses and clear it down. i tried the regular way of playing but it was taking too long.

There is no point in house farming since updates take their time to come so if you rush the game then what do you do?

Well I guess that about sums up the argument for farming...you don't have enough patience to play the regular way. I would have thought it was more annoying to build a massive farm, wait till you're rich, sell everything and then start building your town from scratch as opposed to just building it the way you want from the beginning even though it will take longer.

Well, each to their own I guess..whatever way of playing makes you happy :D

Can we all agree to disagree then and end the discussion on farming?

    ...

What's that? Oh...this message just in....the Internet says "NO!"

To the above poster....What is the regular way of playing? Is there some secret squarrel handbook to playing this game? If someone wants to farm they farm thats one of the many glories of this game. Everyone has thier own vision as to how they want thier Springfield to look. Who are you or anyone else to say they are not playing the "right" way. You know my grandfather used to tell me when he was alive: "Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one and most of them stink"

Wow! If you'd read my post properly you'd know that I actually agree with you. I was quoting trailstrials who said in his post "I tried the regular way of playing but it was taking too long".

I went on to say "Each to his own...whatever way of playing makes you happy." Some people like farming, others don't. Neither way is "right" or "wrong" so why argue endlessly about it? Oh right...because its the Internet...

PS. I just had a shower so my a$$hole is lemony fresh!

Hey isn't multiple threads about house farming considered forum farming? LOL

Play the game how you want to play it.

Having others dictate how you should play/enjoy your game is silly. It would be different if the Springfields where linked and heavily depended on each other but social aspect of the game is very minimal.

Does it matter? We are free to choose to play the game however we want. I don't remember seeing anything which says you must not build loads of houses to make money. I didn't do it and I'm wishing I had of done now judging by the slow, way that EA release new content and levels. If you want to build houses good luck to you, ignore the keyboard holier than thou warriors that seem to populate every forum these days.
