Hacked--

Prev13
It hasn't happened to me, but I wanted to commiserate. What a truly awful thing to do! It doesn't even make sense, it's not like they can take your donuts for themselves, or get their hands on your refund. Senseless nastiness :( I hope EA can sort it for you.

Sorry to hear that. If you use the same email and password for anything else then you might want to consider changing them as if this is not a case of someonce accessing your town due to an issue with EA then you might find other obvious systems like hotmail, Facebook, amazon and so on might also be compromised.

Read some posts of people finding themselves in a different town than theirs - in the "bugs & problems" section; they were shocked but left no damage behind, others behave different. Your lucky they didn't destroy and sell things!

This seems to be a glitch from EA, as far as I know. Look in the other part of the forum for more info.

Hope EA replaces your spent donuts.

It really does suck---I spent a lot of real world money on donuts and have been using them sparingly...mostly saving them for events that have limited items----they used over 500+ donuts and bought all these crap buildings and just randomly placed them around my town

Wow...That's really messed up!!! I hope EA can refund your money or replace the donuts for you and find out who did this to you!! If they did it to you, they have or will do it to someone else. I'm so sorry, keep us posted on what happens with EA.

A few of you mention finding yourselves in someone else's town ... Is it feasible that the person figured they were in their OWN town but suddenly some premium items were gone, and the person was upset because they thought THEIR town had been invaded and totally messed with by a hacker?

Of course, if the name in the inset on the town wasn't your own ... Then you'd know WHO messed with your town. If it shows the correct name ... (Annette's brain explodes.)

How strong is your password? Do you use it in more than one place, if yes you may be asking for trouble. Is your password on this list of the 25 most used passwords?

I like the irony of Mulder's password being on this list.

It's just crazy how its even possible that people can get into other people's account without putting in their email and password randomly...

Oh, I see what Annette's saying. If it this person's username was on the town they could have have thought, "Whoo hoo! Look at all these donuts I got by mistake. I'd better spend them before it gets fixed!" Although you'd think they would have noticed that it wasn't their town. I'd like to think this wasn't deliberate, but who knows what really happened.

You have my sympathy. Good luck and let us know how it goes trying to get this resolved.

My password is pretty strong---a series of numbers and letters and capitalization. It is also specific for this game

Well that's good to know, but I wonder how many other forum readers see their password on that list? :)

I really hope you get your donuts back, I know how you feel. I had a similar experience last year when I forgot to log out of my wife's school iPad. One of her students opened it up (they like to play anonymously) and had a grand old time spending about 150 donuts and $300k. I noticed it as soon as I logged in and thought it was a glitch until I saw Dr. Nick, the Tire Fire, and a slew of new construction. Lesson learned for sure, but since it was my fault I had no recourse. Hopefully EA helps you out. Good luck!

The other day when I logged on it was not my town. At first I didn't realize it and was collecting from houses. After the 3rd house I was like wait, this is not my town. I exited the app, went back in, and I was in my town again. I know this is a glitch and I think it sucks people aren't nice and don't just log out like I did.

To me it doesn't sound like an intentional hack, but you never know these days. If you connect to public wifi, your passwords and data isn't well protected. So there's that off chance that this may have happened. But I think the more likely scenario happened instead:

I've seen reports on here where people are logging in, and discovering it is someone else's town. So this could be some sort of server cross over or something. So this may have happened, and the person that logged in may or may not have realized it was their town. Some might not have and said oh boy free donuts and bought stuff they wanted, not really knowing it wasn't their town.

In either case this definitely stinks and I hope EA can provide some sort of resolution for it.

Or maybe one final unlikely scenario. The OP had a few too many drinkee-poos and had some drunken donut spending. We did see one case of that on the forums as well.

The place I work forces everyone to change his password every three months. The new password has to include letters and numbers, and no password can ever be re-used.

    About 80% of my co-workers use the passwords "spring13" - "summer13" - "fall13" - "winter13" - "spring14" and so on, and so on, and so on...

Lol! Thanks for that list. People are so predictable. My password when I was younger was "clambat" I said let's see someone guess that. Neither word had anything to do with me.

I really doubt it was someone in my town by accident and didn't notice. My town is kind of messed up now trying to do a re-build and you have to search to find space---it would have been evident to someone being in the wrong town

Oh....I went to bed after having too many drinkee-poos and never touched the game
