Yesterday like most here I was worried that I didn't have but maybe 10 giftbags to give out. But today I just checked and I have around 20. So it's not much but I made a list of who has visited me and will pass them out accordingly.
As far as people leaving them to me, I'm not too worried about it. I have a feeling unless people are spending real money there won't be too many floating around,
I too apologise to my neighbours on lack of gift bags.
Started dropping the 5 in each town before realising that
I wouldn't get as many back.
Plan is to drop 1 in each neighbours town and keep rotating
So will get back to you eventually but want to be fair to you all
Hope that is ok:D
Haha, I remember not even being able to place gremlins because any player could max out a town in one visit... That part wasn't cool... And having an abundance means no logical thinking.. (Ex. "I only have a few gremlins, better use them at the best hours")
It was gremlin overload.. This though.. Makes a gift special.. Kinda cool
I have 4 elf houses right now but I'm not sure how well they're adding to my gift bag total. I'll keep an eye out next time I send them off and count how many they bring me.
Its approx 5 gifts for each house.
So 20 out of the 4 houses you have.
I'll have to pay attention next time I get a gift bag to confirm, but it seems that the gift bags that my friends have dropped have yielded me between 3 and 5 gift cards per bag - vs the 30 cards I could get from one visit to their town. So, the gift bags a nice little "thank you" to neighbors, but as long as you are leaving stuff in your town for them to tap so they can get a full 30 cards when visiting you, I think that's going to be more important in terms of being a good neighbor.
I am also assuming that the gift cards are like goo in that whether the gift cards are collected via visits or gift bags, they ALL contribute to the community totals (like getting goo from visits vs gremlins.) So ultimately, I think that the bags are a little help, but are not going to be the primary driver for hitting those personal and community goals.

Have a closer look ingame...
Personal prizes are gained through the "gift cards"
Community prizes are gained by "Deliver gift bags to your friends' towns to add to the community total"
Gift bags however far harder to get than Gift Cards.

Yeah, I go back and forth on the interpretation of that. It definitely sounds like the gift bags *could* be the only thing contributing to the community total. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense (not none, just not a whole lot) since the actual event currency is gift cards, not gift bags/presents. (Comparatively, the Halloween event told us to gather goo in our own Springfields to add it to the community total, implying that goo gathered in friends' towns didn't count, but it obviously did.) In short, it just doesn't make a lot of sense (to me) that there would be two event currencies, but I will concede that could be wishful thinking on my part.
(Edit to add: thinking about this further, I personally think that it is the gift cards that contribute to the community total, not the gift bags, which are simply a delivery mechanism for more gift cards. I know it is a different event, but again, going back to Halloween: the currency was goo, which could be acquired by haunting a friend's building (tapping it - just like we acquire gift cards by tapping a friend's building) or by placing gremlins (or, in this event, gift bags.) I think it would be more effort than it's worth for EA to track both gift cards AND gift bags, especially when those gift bags provide gift cards. Again, though, this could just be me.)
I've found about 15 so far, and trying to spread them as much as I can. Been dropping one gift per neighbour, trying to make sure I give to everyone possible. With any luck, I should be able to stockpile for a day it two and get enough to give at least one each yo all my neighbours soon. Hate visiting with nothing to drop.

I still don't know what to think about this. Other than that one screen that says about gift bags contributing to the community total, the actual currency is gift cards. This is why I really think we are counting gift cards on the community counter. From what I've seen, most of us have only gotten maybe somewhere between 20-40 giftbags to give out, yet the community total is at 20 million. Theres no way we could be at 20 million right now if each of us has only contributed 20-40 gift bags so far. I dunno...that's just what I've gathered from watching so far...I'd love to see what others think about this..
Anyone else having a hard time seeing the gift boxes? I hear them drop but can not find them half the time and if I do I have to scan the town very slowly. They should have had something else like collecting elves or reindeer running around to collect.
Use the move feature and make building invisible then you can see them hiding.

Only down side: community goals..
I'm in your town now and I don't have any for you
Just a few hundred more cards and I'll have the elf home. Hopefully things will pick up after that.

5 for you, 5 for you, 5 for - oh wait i ran out
yeah it makes me feel kinda bad for leaving people out...
Sorry neighbors! I am banking up a few now and hope to find more on my neighborhood visits tonight.

Side bar: LOVE the arrows to switch towns.

(That's still not enough, though! I'd like to be able to give everyone a present at least once a day!)
