Theory? Perhaps people are right about EA messing with us, setting impossible goals in order to encourage donut purchases of gift bags (they want our money), knowing that the gifts will be given out on Christmas and that everyone will end up happy, while they end up a bit richer vs Halloween where every player knew the prizes would be easy to obtain and thus didn't spend money on Goo or Gremlins.
Well that hasn't slowed their profits at all, so apparently that method of handing out items worked just fine too..
the ommunity prize counter is shown approx. 140 000 000. all my friends have over 12 000 gift card currently. but for simplicity lets count just 10 000. so 140 000 000 / 10 000 is give us how many people play this game (if the gift cards count). and the result is only 14 000 people all over the word???? I dont think so... but if we just count with average 5000 gift card is just double the number of players (28 000)
and the community prizes are clearly say: I just copy from the game.
Deliver GIFT BAGS to your friends town to add to the community total!!!!
I thought the community total came ONLY from gift bags and didn't include the gift cards we collect ourselves?

The problem I see with that is that any amount of donuts I spend to buy gift bags to hand out will have such a minimal impact on the overall number, why would I bother?
I'd like to see EA introduce smaller "communities" that we could join during events. Made up of maybe 25 players or so. That way winning community prizes would be more directly related to how much effort YOU put in to it. It would then perhaps encourage more sales of gift bags but my favourite bit about it.... some people would get all the prizes and others wouldn't... we all like to have unique stuff right? Just a thought anyway...
It looks like we will not get the 5 community prizes for the Christmas 2013 in TSTO. The numbers aren't rising at the pace they should be. I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact EA's selling gift boxes and not giving enough away or that people aren't into this update... Hopefully EA will find it in their holiday hearts to gift all the community prizes to us for at least trying and that they will not be the Grinches who stole Christmas.

I think it's 25% more donuts for the 25th. (Should I buy a boatload?)
atm the only good one is boatload the rest are not 25% by what tstotopix found. Check their site and see. Its pretty bad. Gil offer seems to be "up to 25%more donuts"
Why do they never give us enough ways to obtain the prizes? We need other ways to obtain bags!! At least make it like the Halloween update where we get so many bags per day, this is insane!!

I agree the counter cannot be counting gift cards, or if it is, it's badly off. But the above phrasing is not inconsistent with counting gift cards. Delivering gift bags indeed adds to the community total (of gift cards), because it gives people more cards, just like giving gremlins added to the community total of goo.

That's the way I read it.
When I drop gifts, I don't think it adds to the total.
But when the giftee taps them, they get cards, which does add in
But I guess only ea know for sure, if indeed the counter is actually counting anything (other than time ;-) )

:?: What are they doing with it?
Hey yanno, that would add another 600 for a total of 3,000 donuts. Might be worth it especially if you buy your iTunes cards from Staples. They currently have $50 iTunes gift cards for $40. Buy two and only pay $80.
