Premium items FAQ

Great post lawnet. I'd only add that you need the Town Hall to perform Hank Scorpio's 1 hour task.

And this is why moderators need the sticky feature. I wish I could sticky this to the front of the boards. Good job man. Thanks for taking the time to share this with all of us.

Lard Lad Donuts: 110 donuts. $125/13 xp per 4 hours. Adds 5 minute task for Homer, Wiggum, CBG (but this task is nothing special in $/XP)
I disagree. It's just not as obvious as the premium characters' task bonus since it doesn't have a direct non-premium comparison.

The closest tasks I can find are 3 minutes or 10 minutes. A 3 minute task earns $6, or $120 per hour. A 10 minute task earns $15, or $90 per hour. Lard Lad is a 5 minute task that also earns $15, or $180 per hour. The only other way for a character to earn $180 per hour is by doing a 45 second task ($3) 60 times.

Also, without Lard Lad CBG and Wiggum do not have tasks shorter than 1 hour, so they can only earn $70 per hour. Lard Lad ups their hourly earning potential by 157%, which isn't bad!

Lastly, earning $125 every 4 hours is much better than the $110 that 6 hour houses/stores pay.

(Sorry, I just did a lot of analysis on Lard Lad and decided it was the best bang for my buck based on how I play the game.)

A great post, but I have a couple of nits to pick. First, to sort of reiterate what dcline stated, it's difficult if not impossible to make blanket assertions about the relative worth of premium items without taking into account other variables such as the preferred collection interval. Two, the way the recommendations about not buying donuts are embedded in the post seems to imply that these conclusions somehow objectively flow or follow from the calculations. They don't. They are opinions, nothing more. Anyone else could accept as accurate all of the provided numbers and still come to the opposite conclusion, a position that is no more and no less legitimate than the one held by the OP.

I thought Lard Lad was $10, not $15?

    Obviously if it's $15, then it's +50%, and a better deal.

I think in terms of scarcity US $ are better conserved then in-game $ generally.

The other thing is if you haven't reach level 23 and done all the quests to enable all the buildings, that will be your primary goal, and in that case you are facing delays of 24 hours, 12 hours, whatever, and in that context, it makes sense to play the game for just a few minutes at a time.

Obviously if you prefer the tap-out, then 5-minute tasks work well, but, given the choice, I would prefer not to grind.

To me it's not grinding. I am at level 23 and doing the 12 and 24 hour tasks leading up to channel 6 now.

I enjoy spending an hour or so playing the game rather than just popping in for 10 minutes once or twice per day. While playing, I assign all of the characters the shortest tasks available, since two 30 minute tasks earn more than one hour long task. Hence the addition of a 5 minute task for two characters is great, and it's even better that it earns a 50% bonus!

Not true. CBG and Wiggum have 30 minute tasks at Krusty Burger

I'm wanting to put $10 into the game to reward the developers for the great update. But that $10 is going to be wasted though, as it really buys nothing worthwhile.

It's insane that they expect the average person to get premium-addicted and fork out $100 for the extras. If they lowered the price of their premium items by 75%, they would get a lot more people willing to buy donuts rather than just the OCD people they currently attract.

    Just updated this.

I added in the new items, and updated my original post to note that Kearney sucks and that the best premium items are characters with cool animations, and big cool-looking buildings.
