Let's have everyone comment on this thread to make The Grumple free!! Somewhere, people are saying that on X-mas Eve, he's going to be for 120 dounts. This is totally not fair considering it will be near christmas and I think we all should deserve something free on / near that day. Everyone, comment here to agree for EA to make The Grumple Free!!!!
Not everything in life is free. Sometimes you got to pay.
I think its fair that EA has some premium content this Christmas.
They should have some premiums, of course. No profit would mean no game.
However, I have seen dozens of people talking about how much they spent on donuts to just keep spinning the wheel until they had all those prizes. I have several neighbors who must have bought the packs of gift bags to be able to give me gifts daily. There's no way that EA has not already made an absolute killing on premium holiday content, so money is not really a strong argument in favor of charging 120 donuts for a seasonal character that does not seem to come with a building or decoration of any sort.
And let's not forget that a full set of snowmen would cost 160 donuts, mostly to just raise vanity. (And then anyone who does that screams themselves hoarse because a lot of the snowmen are on the wheel.) And if you want a couple more elf houses? That's 120 right there. So, sure, the only big-ticket single item might be Santa's Village, but all those 20s and 60s for those who spend them have to be adding up rapidly.
This isn't to say, either, that the Grumple should be free. I would like to have the Grumple and I'm not paying any 120 donuts for it, so of course I think it would be nice if everyone got it for christmas. I'm not going to insist on it or even say I deserve it, and I'm not going to cry if I don't get it. But please don't try to make charging $10 for a character about fairness in the premium content, or about how EA needs more money. EA has made nine digits off this game, they aren't hurting for Tapped Out money. Additionally, as I said, for those people who do buy donuts regularly, the amount already spent on the wheel and on gift bags and on other premium content will dwarf the profit EA would see from charging for the Grumple. They could technically afford to give us this one. They don't want to and they won't do it, and that's fine too, but they actually released quite a lot of premium content this update, along with their generosity with the gift card prizes.
(I'd like a Backwater Brewery, just because it would explain how Cletus brews all that moonshine. But I'm stuck with assuming he brews it in the tub, and that's why the young 'uns never take baths.)
Honestly, I don't mind the Grumple isn't free, and to the ppl complaining, the Grumple is not free so that EA can make money, and I know that, I don't mind spending money on TO, because it's a good investement, and I will get new updates that will keep me entertained.
How can you guys discuss so emotionally about something that is unknown to all of us?
I might understand a discussion if the Grumple should be free or not, but discussing even the amount of donut pushes the limit simply because its all speculation.
No one knows for sure if and for how much the Grumple will be available for purchase. We will find out in time.

i know he posted it but as you mention correctly it is just speculation. We have just seen adjustments in community prizes. The forum went bananas for days speculating how much time it will take to achieve things.
Just to play 'devils advocate', how about if he was free ONLY to people who have spent over $xx on donuts this year? After all, they are the ones who are financing it for the free players? Shouldn't there be some sort of 'loyalty scheme' whereby people who spend, money on it, get items that are specific to the 'scheme'?
Just throwing the idea out there?...
For starters - wow, you honestly feel entitled because you spent a bit of cash on a freemium game? And like you're 'allowing,' the game to continue for free users? By spending money in the first place you're getting content that free players don't have, more money/xp and earnings in general for your town.
A lot of free players may not simply be able to afford/justify spending their hard earned cash on donuts, so for them to miss out on items like the Grumple because of this, in my opinion would be terribly unfair.

Who's to say it wasn't changed BECAUSE of the forum complaining about it? It'd be interesting.

Somthing that I thought of too and I think thats possible.
However I tend to believe they noticed it themselves as well that something didnt go quite as planned and changed their approach. After all EA is not just some small software hut but has massive experience in game development and is a multi million dollar enterprise where decisions are made on the board table and not based on internet posts (I hope I am not getting banned from the forum for saying that as a reply to the forum moderator  ).
The case with the community prices was a little different: the event was ongoing already and it was predictable that in this pace it would most likely fail. EA had to react in order to keep everyone happy (premium payers as well as free players).
The Grumple has not yet started so its not clear if EA would fail their income expectation in case it costs donuts and isnt free (every character must have an expected income which defines the donuts it goes up for sale).
In reverse logic: the more people request to have him (even for free), the higher the market demand is thus the price can be higher.
After reading that EA has reached the nine digits, they must have a spcial task/sales/marketing team dedicated to this game. So what would be their motivation to give the Grumple out for free if people are willing to pay?
He is kind of boring anyway, the grumple gives your about 7 or 8 quests, most of which he spends in the brown house and then that's it...I hope for you guys he's a freebie

We get at least one FREE coin every day. I just hit my 30k gift card mark, so by visiting neighbors [plus the coin from the Egg Nog Bar] I will receive either four or five FREE coins every day until this event ends. That's about 80 more FREE chances at the wheel to receive all the prizes. It's also truly foolish to spend donuts on prizes you know are on the wheel simply because you want it NOW. Even though they aren't coming so fast, we do get FREE gift bags to spread around to our friends. Sorry, but I don't feel sympathy for people who waste their donuts due to impatience, and they certainly do not deserve a bonus for spending money just because they spent it on crap.
Even so, people spending money are entitled to spend it on whatever they like and certainly don't need to be ridiculed for it. This game is free to play with plenty of content for those premium players. Why complain about the grumple costing donuts? It's a premium addition to your town, it's not necessary or a prominent character in any sense, that's the point. If you don't buy it, will it kill you? Freemium players cannot be completionists so why grieve abd complain so much about an otherwise useless and unimportant character such as the grumple. Let EA make their money and move on in life.
They already dropped the community goals due to complaints and you're already trying to get more using the same method. "They give us one present and you take a dozen" so to speak.
I'm a premium player myself but I used to be freemium and I never asked for more seeing as their was always the option to pay to get more...

Said it, slaughtered the natives and started drilling for oil
It would be interesting to see how you do your weekly grocery shopping...

IMO EA have handed us the 10 prizes on a silver platter.
