Barney's price

Prev1
It seems to be their way when they release prizes for sale. The Sleep-Eazy Motel with Miss Springfield is similarly priced at 225, and that was a whacking day prize. The other whacking day prize, the coliseum, is 190 donuts, which is still pretty steep. It doesn't seem justified by anything other than punishing newer players.

Important character on the show, comes with a building and characters which could be got for free during certain events (like Miss Springfield and Drederick Tatum) tend to be more expensive than others. If Mr. Constington is available for purchase after Christmas, then he should cost about 200 donuts, if he follows the same pattern.

I think it's a fool's errand to attempt to figure out logic in their prices, though I suspect they ask the highest prices for the characters/items they think will fetch it. They figure Barney and the bowling alley are gonna attract people so they charge more.

I suspect that's why Santa's Little Helper is radically more expensive than the K9 dog. In terms of game play, they're identical, but SLH is way more appealing in terms of aesthetic value, so he's more expensive.

Barney + bowling alley is much cooler than Otto + bus so he gets a higher price...

Barney was going to be a limited time character, but became permanent because the demand was so high. Pretty logical to figure that said high demand is also why the price is relatively high.

The bowlarama gives good tasks including a rare 20h one. Barney has good tasks too. The building looks good. I do not regret the cost. :D

Actually, that's pretty clever. EA gets advertising. Newer players visit the towns of older players, see these buildings in situ, decorated, and want them. Which is why if they someday offer the Nighthawk Diner, slim chance though it be of that ever happening, I'd pay whatever they ask. Many of the older players outdid themselves with that building. It doesn't hurt that Hopper is one of my favorite artists ever. :)

Oh, definitely! Especially as it came with Rex Banner...

Oh, yup, there is another one I would pay for. I absolutely love that diner.

I think you have it backasswards. It is not that they are punishing newer players, they are instead rewarding loyal, long-term players. As a fanatic TSTO player since the early days, I would be pretty pissed if some noob DIDNT have to pay a hefty sum for a character I worked hard to get last year... Working hard of course being highly subjective :)

I wish they'd bring the Mapple building back along with the Cool Brown House.

Edit: sorry went off topic after seeing some people talk about wanting the diner.

I second the Diner. I missed out on it by a few weeks. I don't care how much it costs, I'll still pay for it.

Except that's completely ridiculous. This is a non-competitive game, and a newer player having something is not going to take anything away from you having it. I get charging donuts for things, but they shouldn't cost $20 just because they started out as a prize. (I won't say free, because I know we have to work for prizes.) Making them cost as much as any other character would still mean that "noobs" had to pay some, but it would be far less punishing. And you would still be "rewarded" by not having to pay in anything except in-game time.
Also, the game wasn't even released for kindle or Android last year. It not only punishes a person, but the platform they use (or can afford.)

This rather high-and-mighty attitude of older players really gets on my nerves. I see it all the time for limited items, and I just don't understand why you would be so possessive of something that you actually think it's justified to charge that much for a single item for someone's digital town just because they started playing after you did.
A few people have mentioned the Nighthawk Diner, which I have in my town, and I would not begrudge a single person here being able to get it for a reasonable amount just because I happened to be playing during the 4th of July event and was allowed to buy it with in-game currency. I'm not somehow better just because I was playing a few months earlier than them. If EA wanted to charge donuts for the Diner, then whatever, but it wouldn't be worth 200 of them. I'd put the price at 50 donuts at the very most, because it's not like Rex Banner pays a premium rate or anything, so 25 for a non-premium character and 25 for a non-premium building that is only used by the character who came with it. That would really be the actually reasonable way to go about it, instead of gouging new players just for being new players.

I hope he becomes free at some point. He's the only premium character I really want but haven't spent the donuts on because of the price, whereas I have picked up the cheaper but less relevant Moleman, Bumblebee Guy, and Otto.

    THANK YOU.

this game really makes me regret being poor. like real life doesnt make me hate myself enough already.

All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

After all this talk about the Nighthawk Diner, I almost feel bad for only decorating it's space with parking lots and a tree.

In answer to the limited-time items, I think they should be re-released. For example, Phineas-Q-Butterfatts is a good-looking building and improves your glutonny rating, so I would be interested to see what my neighbours did with it and glad their glutonny rating went up if they didn't already have 5 starts at that.

OMG...... THIS!!!! Thank you.... It's not like I didn't start playing from the beginning on purpose. I didn't know about the game. I downloaded it and started playing the day I found out about it.

I feel like they're punishing those of us that didn't play last year, or couldn't in my case since my chosen platform is android, by offering us the free skin but milking us on the price of the character. Before anyone jumps down my throat and insists that its because Barney was a prize from last year and thats why he costs so much more, lets remember that he is also one of the most recognizable Simpsons character. He should be in every Springfield. He's not a one off like some of the characters (Tatum, Miss Springfield. Etc.)

I've been playing since the game was released for android, I've spent real money on this game but IMO, Barney is just too over-priced for me to purchase. Giving me a free skin to go with an over-priced character that I don't own just seems like a money grab. I would be curious to see how many players buy Barney now just because they feel it would be a waste of a prize to not be able to use the skin.

Sure its good for EA, not so good for those of us that are picky with our purchases.

I think EA made it easier for us free players by (reportedly) making Plow King's tasks pretty blah. I also have the Plow King skin and nowhere near enough donuts for Barney.

Although Barney's regular task of passing out in the street looks pretty awesome to me. (Still not worth 250 donuts.)
