That's ridiculous. It's perfectly possible to have even a big town and still have three of those buildings visible from one screen and have it look really good. Lots of my friends do in fact, I do this trick multiple times every day.

I did notice the effect would work, and kept meaning to go back and check whether you actually got the money/xp....clearly you do so that's ace and thanks for being less lazy than me!!

Lol the funny thing is that I have the town hall near the school and the library, all vandalizable, but that's smack dab in the middle of a huge area lol, even got the jebediah statue in the same screen, made it like that so it's the first thing you see when you load the screen (so people think it's smaller) then they go, oh damn!
