Cannot Connect to Server *FIXED*

I'd get used to it, stability's likely to take a hit over the next few days or so.

    I'm getting it everytime I try to go to my neighbours. It just wouldn't let me visit them. My own Springfield works fine, and I know others are managing to visit mine.

    I live in Toronto and haven't been able to conect for even one second.

    Must have hit "retry" about 80 times now waiting 18 secs increments... Haven't been able to see my Springfield at all.

    You may want to try exiting and restarting the app instead.
    1. Minimize the game
    2. Double-click the Home button
    3. Press and hold on the Game Icon at the bottom of the screen until the red circle appear.
    4. Tap the circle to close the Game.
    5. Relaunch the game from the App Icon.

    I tried that with no results. I would reinstall but it seems like 100s are having the exact same issue (RE: Facebook).

    Also, if any techie employees are lurking it happens as soon as 'synchornize' crosses the screen.

    Same here in Montreal. Can't even complete the download... Gets to 71MB, stalls, goes back down to 54 & then crashes. And this is after restarting the app. Gonna be a long nite me thinks.

    I'm in Toronto too and have the update on my iPhone 4 but it crashes constantly; e.g., anytime I go to start a new quest. I've cleared my open apps, rebooted, reset all my settings, and no change.

    I'm still seeing cannot connect to server, ironically someone else in my house has had zero problems and has been playing for the last 20 minutes, so I don't know **** is up with this game. :evil:

    OMG, its happening to me as well. its affecting canadians. ****!?!?!

    haven't been able to get into the game at all. :(

    cshirleyea, if you have a moment, can you help me understand what's been causing my game to crash every time I click on a given character (usually Homer, but now Bart and Apu with their Christmas quests)? I use an iPhone 4 and have tried the following to no effect:

    1. Minimizing game/double-clicking Home button/tapping red circle/relaunching/etc.
    2. Rebooting the iPhone.
    3. Resetting all of my device's settings (including network settings).
    4. Deleting the app and reinstalling it.
    5. Deleting excess files/apps from my device to ensure sufficient memory.
    6. Removing friends from the game.
    7. Putting items into storage.

    My Springfield is fairly large with a lot of land and decorations. I'm reluctant to store more (does that even do anything?) because it defeats the purpose of the game.

    I am very eager and willing to spend actual cash on donuts to get the new premium content but first I want to ensure that my game will work without these crashes anymore. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

    Thanks! You guys have all done a terrific job with the game basically and I hope I can get back in on the fun soon!

    I'm having the same issue for the last 2 hours. I keep getting the can't connect to server message as soon as it tries to sync. I've tried completely closing down and restarting the app several times. Haven't tried to update yet.

    I'm in the Northeast (US) as well.

    I'm in Washington and its not working on my iPad 2. Only my IPhone 5.

    I figured this out. It's a corrupted app download. I deleted the app, re-downloaded it, and its all running fine. Got lots of x-mas stuff after a boatload of donuts buy. :P

    No offence.. But the EA servers are faked and doing that is useless.
    Everyone knows EA has a winning game but have shit3 servers.

    Confirmed. I redownloaded the app and it fixed the issue.

    Thankful to the gaming gods for giving my level 23 back. Cannot connect issue fixed.
    And so far visiting friends seems better (fingers crossed).
    Holiday update a nice treat also.
