200 donuts to spend

Otto with the bus is 120, and not a bad choice at all. I don't think you'll be able to get two character/building combos with 200 donuts, but you could get Otto and one of the standalone characters like Bumblebee Man (who brings a new task to channel six that he's not necessary for, so it's almost like he comes with a building, in terms of earning power.)
You could also save the remaining 80 donuts towards something else, like Frink's lab or the Cracker Factory.

I like the Jub-Jub/pet store combo for only 90 donuts. Jub-Jub's 12 hour task for $600 makes it like the cheapest character building combo I think. Then you'd just need 10 more donuts for Otto/school bus.

Wait a couple more weeks for Valentine's Day and decide then - don't spend 'em now and wish you could've gotten the V Day exclusives!

That's not a bad idea at all. Plus Jub-Jub gives Selma a premium earning six hour task.

Been thinking about this a bit more. Jub-Jub really doesn't interest me at all. Maybe it has something to do with all the other non-playable animal characters that just clog up my town, (yes i realize he is playable with tasks). So yeah a no go for animals.

Im still thinking of something in the 80-120ish range. I guess I'm maybe thinking more recurring/memorable characters for a good value. A building would nice, but not a deal breaker.

It's fine if I dont get 2 items right away, but don't want to go too big, and have to spend all my time saving up again from step 1.

Hopefully that makes sense. I do appreciate the suggestions thus far.
