Level 37 non House Farmer here, and it astounds me that people have found a way to fill up all of the land available. I am still trying to buy up all the remaining tracts, a few at a time.

I too don't understand how people run out of room but it's of no concern to me. If they want to fill up all their remaining open space with houses or whatever so be it. I do however know that some people put in a lot of effort to make their SF very organized and cool looking.
Some people give certain buildings and areas (I.e. Mansions) more attention with more decorations and space surrounding them.
However, that being said, I'm still buying up land little by little.
The main reason for not having enough land is that we use a lot of decorations and try to be creative with the space. Lakes, gardens, parks, football fields...

Do you have all the premium items? How much detail do you put into each design? Do you have a forest and/or lake area? Do you have a park? Do you have decent size parking lots? Any random designs like sports fields or something unique?
I have all those things and while I currently have my town organized and "complete", there's a lot I wish I could do. Many of my buildings don't have the design I wish they could have.
I'm hoping we see 4 strips of land in the future. 2 on top and 2 on the side. That would be perfect for me...and I'm assuming many others.
Another year worth of content and no new land would pretty much kill any reason to purchase donuts. If I can't place and decorate a premium building the way I would like, then I'm probably going to stop the entire completionist thing.
I have no room and I don't even have 5 stars in indolence, so farming definitely isn't the issue. If you've been around a while and accumulated all of the buildings then your town is probably pretty tight. I had to get rid of a huge waterfront in my town to make some space.
I too am out of land. I like to give buildings some space so they look nice not all jammed together
agree with this and above similar sentiments. If you give houses yards, and stores parking lots, have parks and a town square, and have all the bldgs., you start to run out of space. I'm eating into my lake and forest area (where Lincoln's Cabin, Fort Sensible, etc. are). Need more land--and wouldn't mind more water too. Hate making my SQ long and narrow and so close to shore.
I have no free land and not a house farmer.
I have all the premium items and special events buildings that have been issued and have now exhausted all the land.
I have two small parks, a few minor rivers to add texture and variation to my town design and hence all the land is now gone.
In one sense I am dreading the next level if there is no land expansion as honestly I do not know how I would squeeze the additional buildings. I have already reluctant reduced the size of my forest area to a bare mimimum and in places reduced the decorations around buildings.
So unless you have ALL items including premium and special events/ episode tie in items please do not make judgement that there is sufficient land.

Totally agree..how boring and ugly is it when buildings are jus lines up with no decorations. I like my Springfield to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye with large decorated areas...creativity is nice.
I also have no land left. Have five stars and yards, forest w/ lake, a park, and most of the premium items. I could do a redesign and squeeze things more, but I hate that cause it takes out realism. I have parking for most things that would normally have them.

I don't "house farm", have every building, I don't use a lot of land for each building either, so I don't think that's the reason for everybody.
I agree.

Have every building including premiums, and I like to be creative.
That's why.
