How can stacking handshakes on a corn crop not make you enough money to buy everything in the game? I was making about a million a day off my corn before the Christmas update wiped it out. I made enough to buy every cash item in the game in a short amount of time.

Play the game normally, without Housefarming (like I do), and you will get all the items anyway.

I really wish I had corn so I could rake in the money, but waiting 3 months seems stupid since I need the money right now.

It's taking me days just to save for one building, let a lone all the decorations and land I still need

Nah. I just set my characters on task every day and stack handshakes on Channel Ocho (corn still has a couple months on it) and I had no problem buying the new content. Sure, I'm still working towards the Zirconia, but I had a million before the update, and I still have half a million now after new buildings, decorations, and a couple plots of land. It started accumulating pretty quick once I had most of the buildings; I was even able to build the sunsphere over the holidays.
It was tough going for a few months, seemed like I never had enough, but I'm to the point now of being pretty comfortable. Not wealthy, but definitely comfortable. (If only my real life finances were so easy  )

I guess I do have a little cluster of houses, but it's hardly a farm. It's mostly for my indolence rating. I was trying to make it look like a bunch of townhouses where they're all connected together, and I'm not sure whether I succeeded or not. I'm still tinkering with what all I should do to get my ratings full.

Speaking of stacking handshakes at channel 6. I have been using the arnie broadcast. Is channel ohcho the best one to use or does it really matter?

I don't have any farms and made plenty of cash. I just made sure to get things with the highest bonus payouts. When I had time I would set everyone on the hour tasks and just tap away...made more money faster that way. Now I have more $ than I really can spend. It can be done. And I doubt EA cares how you earn it or wants anyone to do anything. Other than spend money. :D

I'm pretty certain Arnie pays like 50% more, and stackability makes it worth it to wait the extra day, but I don't have Arnie, so I go with Ocho. Those who don't have a premium broadcast tend to go with the 16-hour one. I think the best option is whatever has the highest payout on your list, basically.

Players who have played since the beginning or close to it, have spent many hrs grinding away between updates to gain cash. Newcomers can't be expected to get everything so soon and I can tell you, it takes time and I can say proudly that I DIDN'T farm. But in answer to your question, it will be near impossible to get everything so fast without farming, although I don't like it, it's each individuals choice on what to do.

I dont see why people want to get everything as fast as possible. Why rush?

newcomers just need to be patient.. there's no need to house farm just set tasks up if all the characters you have are set on 2 12 hour tasks a day they each will earn you $840.

you don't need to buy all the land straight away only buy it when you need it.. it will take you a few months to get to level 38.

if you're already at level 38 you have more then enough characters to make a lot of money.. if you have say 30 and all are on 24 hour tasks that's $18000 a day two 12 hour tasks will make just over $25000.. once again only buy the land when you need it and since there is usually 2 or so months between updates that is plenty of time to save up cash for the new stuff even with buying land and decorating the town.

krustyland helps as well because when you finish it you can exchange tickets for cash.

edit-- checked the character list by level 38 even if you missed all events and tie ins you have 44 characters... putting all of them on two 12 hour tasks a day (with no bonus) will get you $36960 a day. in 5 days you can earn just under two hundred thosuand.. if you did that every day for a month that's 1.1 million.. and this is not including the income from buildings.. i don't see how anyone struggles to make money if they are on level 38.

Rome wasn't built in a day and the same goes for my Springfield. It took about 8 months of grinding (without farming) to acquire all the land and buildings up to that point. Having said that, I didn't have KL and SP to worry about which by their release I was fully accomplished.

Patience is key. I don't housefarm, i don't stack handshakes (want to, but can't get more than two shakes at a time) and i'm still able to buy everything.

I send my characters on two twelve hour tasks each day and get 60000 from it. That and collecting from the buildings earns me about 500000 a Week.

Gotcha, I forget that some may not have arnie. You guys are smart here so when I read that people at doing something different like using Ocho, I think, "huh, maybe I'm missing something"
Anyway, thanks for answering my question

House farming only becomes "mandatory" if you refuse to be patient.

It is perfectly possible for a freemium player to progress steadily in their game.

Yes, you may have to save up for a few days before building a certain building, rather than having the luxury to build it the moment it becomes available.

Yes, you may have several buildings on your list of "to be built", which requires you to be choosy about which you build first.

Yes, you will have to prioritize things more...i.e. buildings that provide characters are ones you may want to build first (since the extra character means more money), holding off on expanding Squidport till you are done with Springfield, expanding your land at a reasonable/comparable rate at which you acquire new buildings and need/want more room to spread things out.

That said, a good many players seem to be of the "I want it now!" mentality, so likely that is why many feel "forced" into house farming, when it really isn't a necessity at all.

Patience is the key - especially if you're a freemium player. With a multiplier only around 30% and doing 4 & 8hr tasks, I earn $136,482/day from tasks & buildings (yes, I have a spreadsheet or ten for TSTO :P ). Events are a great time to rake in the dough, as generally the items are cheap and they postpone level updates with expensive buildings. I probably made $5m each for Halloween & Xmas, and made significant inroads in land & got several aspirational buildings.

Once you hit level 38 it may seem like you'll never get everything, but give it a couple of months to clear out the level updates/buildings backlog and then you'll start savig enough for the big $millions expenses. :-)

I think a lack of patience is the big issue here for updates and general play.

People want to buy every building now and then complain they're bored and there's not enough to do. There is, if you take each character/building and associated quests at a time.

People rush quests and then complain about not having enough donuts to pay for Premium characters/buildings.

People spend donuts on the wheel because they didn't want to wait, and then they complain because the odds made it supposedly easier to get things without spending donuts.

The only reason I can see for wanting cash now, now, now, is to be able to see exactly where everything should go to reduce redesigning your town with each new building. But that's always going to be a problem as EA introduces each new update.

Personally, I'm not a completionist/completist (??). There's certain buildings I have no interest in, and quite frankly, just don't fit with the town I'm going for, so money isn't a pressing concern right now.

I've been playing since July (I think) and now own every Freemium building (outside of updates I wasn't part of). That's without housefarming and stacking shakes on corn etc.

I'd love to have several million in the bank to make designing easier, but that does mean I've still got a reason to visit my town in between updates.

On the other side though, the commitment is wonderful to see wheather they farm or not, but the may thing is, people seem to forget its a set and forget game, you play it once your tasks are finished or when you have a spare 20 mins or so, it's not a console game, therefor it's played at a leisurely pace, well for most anyway.

When I started playing there were only about 28 or so levels, and is admit i was in a hurry to get through everything. I can't imagine starting now when there's 38 levels and so many quests to get through!!

Anyways, when I was still on level 20 or so, my theory was, "you gotta spend money to make money."

I don't house farm in the traditional sense of having 50 blue/white/pink houses all squashed up in a corner, but I so have about 100 houses in my town. If you can afford to buy land, buy land, and put down three houses. Then save up some money, buy some more land, and put down another 3 houses.

It's not fast, but is is simple. You can still maintain a good design on the town, and still progress through the levels. Having a decent amount of she's was how I got through the lower levels. Be patient, and have fun!!

Didn't EA just reduce the costs for the buildings? I swear I just read that on the forum.
