Seasonal events, how many?
72 posts
The game has been around for a bit over a year after a re boot. Seasonal events are at the discretion of EA. They are not announced in advance (certainly there is no monthly planner).
We expect a Valentine update since there was one last year. Maybe Saint Patrick days also last year. Whether Wacking day in an annual event or not is up in the air.

The Christmas event was a recurring one as well.
I do certainly expect a Valentine event since Valentine's Day is such a big thing in the US. (In Germany it is mainly promoted by the florists...)
*.Paddy's Day would be great: I really want that Irish Pub!
Easter will be another opportunity to enhance the community aspect of the game, so I guess EA will promote that.
And I am looking forward to another summer event, since there have been two already. (Squidport and Krustyland).
Besides the main events there have been two promotionals in the time I am playing the game. Both were to announce the airing of Simpson's episodes on US tv and contained small quests as well as the opportunity to get limited time (premium) items. The last one gave us Kumiko for free!
Additionally there are free gifts on special days like the reindeer on Christmas day or free donuts on the New Year.
My impression is that there are more times with one event or the other than there are without.
Let's have fun!
Halloween 2012 (first event)
Mini event: Thanksgiving 2012
Christmas 2012 (second major event)
Mini event: Valentine's Day 2013
Ultra Mini event: Saint Patrick's Day 2013
Whacking Day 2013 (third major event)
EXPANSION: Squidport (event?)
Mini event: 4th of July 2013
EXPANSION: Krustyland edition (event?)
Halloween 2013 (4th major event)
Thanksgiving 2013 (major/minor/mini event?)
Christmas 2013 (5th major event)
Then there have been numerous episode tie-ins for the current on-going show. I wouldn't call those events since it's a 2-4 part quest line, typically able to complete in 2 days (normally 1).
The 'mini' events I listed had maybe around a 10-15 part story line (matching major events), but are "mini" in size that they typically didn't last long. I put last year's Valentine's Day as mini due to the content added which was "mini" compared to the amount of content released for a "major" event. I put Saint Patrick's Day event as Ultra Mini as we only got 1 building/character, 1 premium decoration/character and 1 prize decoration. So the content was even lighter than a mini event.
I don't know if the "expansions" count as events, but thought to list them in the order. They are permanent parts of the game, but I don't know the developers counted them as events due to the show being in the off-season and to keep the players interested during that time of year.
It was tough, since there was a 'special' currency of the turkeys even though it was a for a quest. It did bring in many decorations and a few characters.
Probably not major, but everyone can call it whatever they want.
Thanks, great overview.
Does anyone have any idea as to the percentage of days with/without event?
(yes, I know it's a question of definition. Anyhow: I've got the impression that there is some sort of "happening" every few days.)
As I've mentioned before, I'm a relatively short time player (not yet three month) and would like to hear from the "old timers".
Considering the "major" events last for a month, there have been 3 major events a year. So with the mini events I'd say it's closer to 50% of the year uses some type of event. The mini-events are less demanding and just going through the storyline within 3 weeks to 1 month's time. The major events go at least a month, and usually extended past the original date. That typically requires players dedication to collect a special currency to win all of the 'free' prizes. So daily play is typically encouraged along with daily friend visits.
So right now Christmas ended a week ago, but also on the verge of a mini-event for Valentine's Day. Then possibly something for Saint Patrick's Day. Then after that is resolved it will be about 3 weeks to a month or so until Whacking Day, a major event. So that takes us up to May (Simpson's 'Whacking Day' holiday is May 10th, last year event began mid-April and went through like May 17th I think). So then it was summer with the show being in the off season, and little to no events were present. Just level updates, those 2 major expansions, so who knows what this summer will bring? Then the mouth of October will be Halloween, Thanksgiving in November, and Christmas in December/January.
