Homer should run a team like he did with the America footy then he could cut everyone until Lisa point out the difference between soccer and American footy then homer cuts Lisa too

There is a episode for the WC as well which comes out later this year. Homer is a referee and is forced into match fixing. Hopefully we at least get a tie in.

The biggest issue with FIFA, the Olympics and most of these other big sporting events is licensing. If they mention the specific event by name and use the trademarked symbols it is going to cost a tidy sum of money as well has have restrictions placed on their use. I would say FIFA might be easiest though as EA already makes FIFA games. (The current license may not allow use in games outside that franchise, though.)

The episode follows Springfield's most famous family as it journeys to Brazil, only to find Homer's honesty put to the test by one of the slickest South American gangsters in the soccer match-bribing business.

Cool! Unfortunately licensing for the TV show doesn't translate to licensing for the game. Wish it did for all the soccer fans.

I think a pitch and a few tasks for the kids playing/homer refereeing would be a nice touch. Nothing over the top. Maybe a mini tournament when the kids play each other 90mins task. Could have a special character (as you say there have been a few) but I wouldn't expect more than one

I'm extremely happy and surprised, not only did he sell us Chelsea's 2 year consecutive player of the year but they also sold us the best playmaker in Europe (imo) and Mata and Hazard were deadly together but I'm hoping Mata and Rooney will be even better tonight!

Why does every one want sport updates (not that I have anything against sports). I just mean sports isn't really the Simpsons. I know how there are a few episodes that has something to do with sport but it just doesn't work for me.

But I expect at least a football stadium, Homer referee skin, and a jersey store.
