How long do you think this game will last for?

25 seasons of The Simpsons, plenty of in game tasks and levels to create from those, plenty of fantastic ideas from everyone on here, me thinks this game will be around for a long time :)

Maybe 1-2 years? They are running out of major characters to release which is the lifeblood of the quests really. I know other players often list lots of characters and buildings but, in all honesty, many are peripheral really. I suppose if/when cash spend on donuts falls to a level where it isn't worth it financially EA will call it a day.

The first week that someone doesn't create a thread about the life expectancy of TSTO will be the day EA shuts off the game's servers.

The game will last for a millennia, and after that all the consciousness of all the players will be uploaded into their towns and they'll become mayors in their towns. After that the game will last another 1000 years before we all get deleted  lmao

Is it just me or are these "how long will this game last" threads coming up almost every other week :?

As long as EA can make money off this game this game will never end. This isn't rocket science, just business management 101.

It isn't just you. There is a forum regular who starts one about twice a month. Then there are the random ones like this. So your observation is correct. Then there are the OPs about "how should I spend my donuts?" Which pretty much covers the forum constantly. It's definitely not rocket science.

Haha okay good, I am not going crazy just yet haha :P
These threads are getting quite repetitive, and kinda boring. I just don't see why people are obsessing about this games future. Just play the game. Enjoy it while it lasts. And be thankful to the developers, and the people who support this game by buying doughnuts. Hell if I had the money to buy them I would too. This game is worth every dime, and as long as that mind set continues, EA won't need to close this game down.
Some people just lack basic logic unfortunately. (That wasn't directed directly at the thread starter, just a general statement.)

    Fo' Sho

EA made over $130 million through 3 quarter 2013 on TSTO alone! On a game they give away for free! So I think it is safe for awhile.

It will last well into the future. One day, it will be beamed directly into your head and you will have to tap your forehead the way you tap the screen now. Every update will bring on a massive migraine though.

While the wait for new content may bore long-time players, new players have a LOT of content to go through (in addition to events), so it will be a while before a new player runs into any issues with a lack of content. Even if old players drop off, if new players are added the game is sustainable. New players have more unbought content in the game, so they are more profitable for EA anyways. There are people who don't know about the game until they get an iOS or Android device, so the game adds new players pretty regularly.

However, the question of "how long will the game last?" is a relevant one when you consider that if they stop supporting the game and turn off the servers, your Springfield, along with every thing you have put in it, are gone. If you told me the game was going to end in 6 months (I don't think it will, but I'm just giving an example), why would I pay money for any premium content that will just go away? At the same time, if I know the game is going to be around for a while, I'm more likely to spend the money to decorate my town and make it more enjoyable. It's a legitimate question. The problem is that asking this forum is never going to provide you with any answer other than guesses. However, based on the activity on these forums (and this is the minority of STO players), it is reasonable to expect that as long as there are players supporting the game, the game will continue - unless they decide to release a newer version entirely.

I read in the Tapped Out Brazil forum that they are planning to go at least to level 100.

There are two more things that could kill off the game. EA losing it's licence for the franchise (anyone know how long the current deal is due to last?), or the end of The Simpsons on TV, which would result in no more episode related promotionals.
