Most definitely play it with the sound switched off. I find the very small collection of sayings each character has to be profoundly irritating after the first couple of listens.

I agree, sound off for me too. But I do spend a minute or two with the sound switched on whenever I get a new character.

I still don't get this royalty thingy. The main characters got full time actors, fine. I can see that recording new lines/voices for the guest stars would involve extra cost, but what if they choose to pick a few lines from the episodes?

Even with picking lines from the shows they would still have to pay that celeb royalites so either way it costing them money which is why some probably dont have voices or they just dont see the need for that character to be voiced ;)

Ah, intellectual property. I should know better, so we can expect voiced characters 70 years from air date. Only 50 years to go.

First off, I'm surprised so many people play it with the sound off. I'm particularly nonplussed because I'm usually the one who turns off the sound, or at least the music in most games I play. I even leave the music on (albeit quieter) just because it adds so much to the feel of the game. I play several times a day, and I'm still not sick of the voices. Honestly, I think it's a big part of the enjoyment.

That said, and on the off chance EA folks are reading, I would gladly pay donuts to get voices for Martin, Edna Krabapple, Milhouse, and others.

Wow! I too am surprised so many play with the sound off. The voices make the game for me. I doubt I'd still be playing if not for that. I certainly wouldn't have dropped any money on the game. I'm a huge fan of good cartoon voice acting in general.

I know it's wishful thinking, but if they could contract just Tress MacNeille and Maggie Roswell, they could seriously address the dearth of female characters in the game AND give them voice.

Just out of curiosity, which premium characters in the game have lines and which don't? The only one I have so far is Frink but saving donuts to buy more and I definitely prefer those who talk? Thanks!

I can't believe all the people whining about this. The main voice actors are contracted to lend their voices to the game - the rest are not.

Is it EA's problem? You have no idea if they've approached the guest actors. Maybe they've demanded excessive money to lend their voices to the game. Maybe it's not worth it for EA to do.

I'd like them to work something out with the likes of Marcia Wallace and Pamela Hayden, who lend their voices to almost every episode. But do I expect them to track down and pay Joe Montegna just to voice Fat Tony? No. It would be awesome, but I don't fault EA for that.

    Keep some perspective people.

Pretty much all of them except Hank Scorpio. If they are on the list (a page back) they talk.

I'm not sure about all of the characters but skinner's lines come directly from the episode where everyone gets snowed in the school 'where are the dodgeball?' 'I'm writing all your names on the detention list in my mind' and the one about school property which I can't remember - he even says them right after one another.

I personally would love to hear 'it's coming up Milhouse'

Hank is voiced by Albert Brooks in the show, so ya no voice for him.

Wow his thread is just full of lame.

I don't even want to get into this one so I thank all the the people with brains in this thread.

I also play mostly with the sound off. Voices or no voices it doesn't really matter to me. I have seen sooooo many simpsons shows that I'm always hearing there voices in my head.

Seriously? Wishing for more voice acting is lame? And takes brains to comprehend?

Look, I understand why EA might not wish to pay the extra money, but voicing your desire for something in the game shouldn't be construed as feeble minded.
