As I mentioned I play 3 different accounts and it does it for 2 of them. I had everything clicked on and up to date before visiting my own towns and there were ZERO Valentine's cards showing up.

Then that means it was just a horrible update that was programed by smarter than average monkeys that are really fond of pink.
I find that about half .. maybe more .,. of the towns I visit don't have any cards to tap. Frustrating. This doesn't feel like playing a game. Feels like hitting a wall.

I am happy I can get in my game and play fairly long and consistently. However, it's crashing like crazy, especially when I visit my friends. So when I go into a town that has NO ONE to tap, it's not just like "Oh, ok, I'll come back later." I might crash at that point, doubling the frustration. Plus since they moved everyone's names around, I haven't gotten them all in sync, so it's not just click the left or right arrow. That will adjust itself eventually, but right now I'm scrolling all over the place just to go into a town that's going to have nothing to tap or cause my game to crash.
Characters should clear after a while, like hauntings did. Or we could double card, like we could double haunt. I'm not about to ragequit or anything, but I'm enjoying this event a lot less than Halloween and Christmas. If it were easier to collect hearts or it wasn't so crashy, it would help a lot.
Plus being at the end of the alphabet? I'm not receiving tons of cards. I am getting some, don't get me wrong. I just got more hauntings/gremlins and gift bags at the same early-in-the-event stage than I am receiving now. I can't really blame my 100-friend neighbors for not scrolling through the other 97 towns to get three hearts from mine, especially given all the crashes it takes to get there.
I alternate going left and right from The Other Springfield, to give the neighbours at the end of the list a chance. I do find it annoying when there's nothing to tap in someone's town. I'm still trying to level up so I need all the XPs I can get right now. All this is providing I can actually get into the game in the first place.
If you need a daily player to add who clears the cards often, give me an add. I'm having the same issue where about half my friends have no cards available.
I have a neighbor who I know has not played since before Halloween and I can tap his peeps. Nothing to do with having the update. You kicked people for no reason. Oops.
I second this! My other half hasnt played his for about a year..... possibly longer.... and if I visit his town, I can still click on cards for people. So I think it's more to do with the fact that neighbours aren't clearing their cards, which as someone else already mentioned, is likely and understandable seeing as a lot of people work (or lucky enough to be young enough to be at school still) and can't tap until they get home
NB: I know I should delete my other halves town, but I can't bring myself to do it...... It would feel so wrong.... Don't worry, he thinks I'm a nerd as much as most of you probably do.

I don't think it's a school or work problem people always find time to tap during an event. We are not able to get into the game to tap. It is already 24hours since I've been able to get into the game. I'm hoping people don't defriend me considering I visit every day even when there isn't an event. I am hoping they figure I can't get in. This is very hard situation to be in for an over achiever.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one. I have friends I know updated cause they have left me cards. But regardless of what time I try to visit them I have not been able to leave them any. Tried to force restart my app, and rebooted my phone hoping for the best, but no such luck.

I've been having this same problem too, people saying they want friends and I'm not able to find them. The first time I figured maybe they spelled it wrong, but it kept happening. Maybe it's a device thing? Like I use iOS and maybe the people I can't find are android? I tried for eslarson668 just to see if *I* could do it, and no user popped up. I've done it from both my device and the desktop origin app.
I discovered something today about getting crashes when using the neighbor arrows. I HAD been tapping and then moving on to the next town without waiting for the stuff to collect, which always has worked just fine. It gets collected for you in the background.
But since I was getting so many crashes with this events, I decided to wait around in each town until everything was finished and that little thanks neighboreeno pop up shows up. I didn't have a single crash.
Not sure if that's relevant to your individual situations, but it might help some people to try it.
