I would imagine it's indolence. The boosts don't always make sense, though, it could be something else.

Odd. It's a big house for guinea pigs, it should be an indolence thing.

This is a really good idea, I know for one, my consumerism rate has dropped significantly, and I guess it'll be a good idea to have these new decorations. I mean we have had obedience, gluttony, vanity, and tree hugging. It'll be worth getting these items. And yeah vending machines would be great.
Like in the simpsons hit and run, the buzz cola vending machines.

    Or the buzz cola trucks!

Unfortunately, I would expect such things to contribute to gluttony more than consumerism, though it would be nice if I were wrong about that.

I forget, did the Flower Carts contribute to consumerism?

I believe they goto vanity. Could be wrong, but I have a dozen of them and still need 6 kems.

You're not wrong. Vanity in Springfield and Kitsch in Krustyland.

Don't I wish! I got something like eight of them. But yeah, as previously said, they were vanity. I think all those wheel decos were vanity, like most decos.

My consumerism dropped a whole star with the new update. (it is 3.5 stars now).
Fortunately that doesn't affect my overall rating of 4.5 stars.
But we really need buildings/decorations to boost consumerism. I was disappointed that the new update doesn't contain anything for it, even if there is a "shop till you drop" questline.

    But we got Manjula! ;)

Hm, my rating didn't drop, but I had a little cushion after my two extra Kwik e marts and the pet store.

It'll probably take me a few months to afford Manjula. *sigh*

Here's hoping for non-premium billboards or something in the next update.

I had to hide another 3 training walls around me town to push it back to 5 stars.

I was kinda surprised quite howw many KWM's I had to place in my town to get the final half a star to get that to 5. It didn't drop with the new level, which I was pleased with.

I now have 'extensions' to the Wax museum and Costingtons as well as a petrol station area, snack area for the plant workers/cops, quick place for the kids to buys ciggies and a corner shop in me downtown shopping area as well.

Fingers crossed I won't be needing many more or if the requirement does change, please for the love of god, give us more options. Vending machines, billboards, hell even a man pushing a cart around the town selling stuff of the back!

I didn't need to add training walls, but I'm pretty sure I had more than necessary.

I don't get why food carts don't raise consumerism. You'd think they would but they don't. :?

I think it makes sense that they (mostly) boost gluttony, since they're food. I don't expect restaurants to boost consumerism, and they're basically tiny mobile restaurants. I'm totally okay with this, since the food carts are why I have five stars for gluttony. I just think something similar for consumerism would be ideal. Advertisements or shopping carts would be my personal choice, but anything the devs wanted to do would be great, so long as it was a small-ish decoration for in-game cash.
