During the Christmas seasonal update, there is an extra layer built on top of the existing income tax system for buildings.

For each house that has decorations, normal incomes occur at their regular rates with an extra layer of income - namely Christmas Coins - being generated at a rate of 5 coins per 24 hour period. This income is based on house type rather than by number of houses. This means that if you have 1 brown house or 100, you will only harvest 5 coins per 24 hour period, plus whatever regular income tax is usually generated. The maximum number of coins it is possible to collect from regular (non-premium) buildings is 65, if you have them all. Farming has no effect on your coin stash.

The way it works for your friends is exactly the same as normal income tax, just with another layer involved. Each building that has income tax available to collect when visiting a town will have the cash icon floating above it. Tapping it will get you cash, XP and, if it has decorations, a Christmas coin. You can visit each of your friends once in day, giving you a potential 3 coins per friend per 24 hour period (and 300 a day if you have the limit of 100 friends). Collecting from a building will reset its tax clock for your friend, so tapping on more expensive buildings with longer wait times (eg, white houses as opposed to brown ones) will help your friends out more, same as always. It does not reset the coin clock however.

so pretty right?.. nice stuff.. we need Plow King though LOL

One thing I'd add is that its actually a nice touch when people add a few brown houses to make it easy for people to have stuff to tap when they come visit as well

    Yes, confirmed indeed.
Now if you could only figure out a way to tap 4 properties fast like you did with the spray cans we can really clean up. :)

Yes, I decided to have a little brown house farm for this reason.

I will try my best to click on higher value houses with lights if they have $ over them. So far I've only seen the lower time frame houses with $ signs.

You should be asked to make Lisa do snow angels and Homer to build a snowman. After that is decoration time.

This thread is infinitely credible because it has *SONNY* as its author.

I really wish the coin timer didnt reset when you switch to the non decorated house for a second. I had 56 seconds to wait and now i have the full 24 hours again.

First of all, this thread needs a sticky, but I can't even quote people so that's wishful thinking.

    But I have a question:

When somebody taps on your building is it still available for others? Or do you need to tap the handshake on the building before it becomes active again? Or does it take the time, like 5 minutes for brown houses, to become available for the next friend?

I've got the land and money to build plenty of brown houses for friends to tap for coins, I just need to know if that's necessary. Any ideas?

Bumping this up again, need answers for my friends. And this thread needs to stay on page 1.

Still though, I just decorated Cletus' farm but I'm 4 hours to getting my Silvertounge harvested. I'm thinking maybe Perfection is the way to go.

Money's pretty much irrelevant to me right now. All I want for Christmas is a 10x7 expansion. And that seems easy enough to do. Probably get it up to a 10x8 by January 1. I just don't want friends to be disappointed coming to collect coins from my town.

So does anybody know the answers to these questions?

When someone taps on a building's cash icon, it's as if you tapped it yourself - ie, it resets the timer and becomes unavailable for another collection until the timer runs out. When you return to this building and it has the handshake icon, you can tap it to collect the cash and XP but the timer will have been running from when your friend tapped it. Again, when this timer runs out the icon will reappear again for both you and any visiting friends to tap. So when you see the handshakes go for it, you won't be taking anything away from anyone by collecting (indeed it's the best indication that the reward's been taken).

Don't bother buying up a load of brown houses unless it's a part of a larger plan you have for your town and are good at making it work and look good. It'll only clutter up the place otherwise and if your friends want they can always hang around until your Simpsons house regenerates and collect that.
