May 30, 2018 update:

I'm opening my thread to everyone who'd like to preserve their original KL designs before EA's apocalypse takes them all away.

Please post your legacy KL Mosaics here. Hopefully this thread won't also be nuked. My condolences for our loss, KL fans. Peace.

March '17 update:

This thread suffered the same fate as all others in the migration to this forum platform, and lost its original post.

But here again are the original pictures from the thread: my KL (from back then)...

...and the "Guide Map" I made for it:

The back story is simple: at the time, there was a lot of anti-KL attitude. Few had invested considerable design time to KL, and so I created a park to refute the naysayers suggesting it wasn't fun to design in KL. Just for fun, I then took it a step further; designing a map to try to stoke enthusiasm for the KL expansion. Which I think was successful, as many more players started posting their clever KLs, and requesting that EA add more KL features. The hype didn't last long, and since then the game has evolved to many other things, as it's a very forward-moving game. So I'm not necessarily surprised they haven't revisited it, just disappointed.

But hopefully someday, EA will utilize the KL expansion module again. It's just got so much potential. If you haven't seen the real map of KL*, you've missed the dozens of rides we could get in the game. Crazy cool rides there. I recommend voicing your desire for this content to EA!

All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

    This looks fantastic!

My favorite is the restrooms :) For some reason I love when people think of those little amenities that a real park would have but wouldn't be fun/interesting for the devs to put in the game.

YAY! I can finally post my finished Krustyland: (scroll right to view all)

It was actually finished a week ago, but while waiting for the ToL (53 spins!) I got a little creative.
I deleted all "visitors" and instead placed SF residents at the entrances to the attractions. I did this, along with the screenshot assembly, with MSPaint.

My favorite parts are the "Duff Beer Garden & Concert Pavilion"...
    DuffBeerGarden_zps496401ee.jpg~original

...and the front entrance, with Itchy & Scratchy mascots "borrowed" from Other Springfield.

Waiting for the ToL was difficult. I began obsessing over placement of trees, or anything else I could do to get ready for the last, elusive item.
That's when I began thinking a little outside the box.

I realized I could have more fun with MSPaint and that's when I started crafting up...THIS:

I made a real map for my fake park!

This became a lot of fun to do. I created the balloons and icons myself, including the "EA donut" that now says "EAT". Almost all are made from in-game elements.

I tried to make the map's textboxes look authentic:

    Text_zpsa877619c.jpg~original

I tried to set up items as they'd be in a real theme park.

    - The park is meant to appear more 'tropical' toward the front, and more 'alpine' toward the back.
    - most rides exit to a gift shop or KBurger
    - benches face food stands
    - line queues are designed to appear unchained for a slow day but would be linked with chains when busy
    - addition of restrooms and other guest services
    - a gated "service driveway" leads to the arena and to the back of the park (to be completed)

    Here's some highlights up-close:

    closeups_zpsb1c68736.jpg~original

    1. The Flea Dipper exits to the main gift shop and KBurger
    2. Restrooms in an inconspicuous area
    3. CBG and Milhouse enjoy the rides
    4. Wiggum demarks the Emergency Services wing of the Admin bldg.
    5. Now we know how Cletus & Nelson's teeth got chipped
    6. Skinner dines at the Food Needle
    7. Plant co-workers meet at the Duff Pavilion
    8. Lisa watches whale tricks from the observation deck
    9. Bart, Dolph, Kearney, and Martin each take in a ride
    10. Who else would go on the ToL with Marge but Maggie?

Sorry, I tried to post a link to the full-size image (3mb, 3700x2400) but photobucket resizes it.
If there's a way to post, please PM me as I'd like to share it.

    Instead, here's some trivia:

    - there are 48 benches
    - there are 25 trash cans
    - there are 4 "coin-op mechanical cars"
    - the font is Harrington
    - the border is the KL load screen
    - this is a freemium park (except for the mascots)
    - the Death Drop's height has been "enhanced"
    - all icons are made from in-game elements except the RR, 1st aid, & HC pkg.
    - the flowers around the Pavilion spell "Duff" and "BEER"
    - the grid is roughly 6 sq deep x 7 sq wide
    - only characters and map borders were modified with copy/paste.

I hope you like it! PM me if you have any questions. Happy Tapping!

So very clever! I love your ideas!

As you "borrowed" the mascots, I just might "borrow" some of those designs.

    Fantastic job.

    Well done neighbour!

I remember touching base about our in game designs and I've kept an eye on your KL ever since. I knew you had plans for it but I never imagined such BIG plans. It's turned out so much better than I ever expected and I loved it back then! Watching it grow was fun and refreshing, especially with not many other players being pro-KL, and to me you've breathed new life into that whole area and inspired me to redesign mine more creatively (NO NO NO DON'T LOOK DON'T LOOK, i haven't even started it yet, its still as shameful as it was  )

Don't even get me started on your map, I could gush on an on about how brilliant it is.

Putting everything on paper certainly payed off as did the late nights  . The time and effort I know this took really shows and I'm proud to have you as my neighbour. I'll definitely keep an eye on your SF too!

Edit: GRRRR why won't you work clappy gif! Here's the link to it then
