Ok.. Here are some rules i like to live by regarding friends.. Feel free to comment and add more.
1. Dont post an "add me". Its lame. There are 1 million people playing this game and lots of add me areas
2. Decorate your town. Don't spend donuts on the * santa village and have all your house bare. Why would i go there?
3. Play. I dont expect you at level 24. But keep chugging along with the christmas decorations
4. House farmers. If you decorate, start with the brown houses. This way they regenerate faster and we can get coins. Dont decorate just you white houses
5. Put an avatar on your account. Nothing says 'low effort' than a lame blank avatar. Bonus if you make an avatar that isnt from the list
6. A catchy name helps. 123573829 isnt a name so use some imagination
Ok. Here ends my er..uh.. Proclamation. Commence tapping.
Not a bad rule whatsoever, Afterall character does matter
I think I'm less tough on my friend list. LOL! My biggest criteria is number 3. I don't really care what level my friends are but seriously if I see your moonshine wilting in Cletus' farm. You're out man. That says A LOT.
Other than that, farmers non farmers, it's all good. Everybody has different ways of playing this game. It's fun to see the differences.
I am however, trying to keep my list short. Too many complications come with high friend count. So sorry if I've cut you from my friend list already. :?
When visiting a friend try and collect either the Simpsons house, brown house, or Flanders house since they have the shortest times when it comes to coin regeneration. Just for courtesy.
Unless of course I'm totally wrong and that makes no sense. In which case ignore my suggestion.

Good idea! I tend to leave those in my springfield when im going full out. Nothing worse than arriving in springfield and no coins to be found!

I prefer people to collect on the more valuable houses first because I don't collect from them until I see a handshake.
Avatar seems kinda strict. I'm on a iPhone.... I can't add one. Dosnt mean I'm lazy.
Yes, yes you can. I've done it on mine more than once and as far as I know, you can pretty much do anything you need or want. Just go under your profile settings.
Well, I tried really hard to live by these rules. I did! I even went and took a screen shot of my money floating over the tire fire (because you know, this game is a money burner) and then loaded it as my avatar. But, it's not showing up.
I think I'm not special enough yet to have an avatar due to post count or level or something.
So, you going to let us low post number people slide on that custom avatar thing since it won't let us do it?
Other than that, I am very careful to be a good neighbor and make sure that my visitors have something to click on (unless somebody else beats them to it and I can't control that lol).
I have to admit, I've been guilty of the wilting moonshine. In my defense, I'm in the midst of finals/was stuck on that stupid cannot connect to server page, and didn't figure out that I needed to redownload the game for a couple days. But yes, not my proudest moment in this game!

We all have our issues with this game from time to time. Mine was inaccessible after the Thanksgiving update. It's all good now (knocks wood). Back then, I'm pretty sure my moonshine wilted too. But hey, I can't blame my friends for deleting me. They won't know any better.
I personally don't care about avatars, but I do want people who are active and I flat-out ignore people who post "add me" responses to non-add me threads. Also, I personally don't house farm, but it's fine as long as your Springfield is well designed. The whole point of the game is to acquire and design, so I really don't like the towns that just plop houses down and fill every nook and cranny.
Thanks for posting this. A lot is self explanatory but some people can use the info
I want to add the issue of newbies and people who are like... Level 24 friends only... I want to say that newbies need help, if you remember back when you had five houses and saving up $1000 was a 48 hour endeavor.... We forget that newbies need friends at higher levels too. It was my higher level friends that helped my get to level 21.... So now I return the favor.
So I happily help out newbies as long as I see that they are actively working on their baby towns, their players are all doing tasks, and they are taking the help I offer.
What's cool is that most of my newbies have their three houses decorated... While I have level 24 friends who don't even have the Simpsons house done yet.
So yeah, help a newbie.... Pay it forward. That's my tip for Xmas.
What gets me is how many people choose to decorate Willy's Shack, Cletus's Farm, Scorpio's Volcano etc before they decorate houses that they have farmed all the way to Ogdenville.
It's still early and I'm sure some of them haven't figured out how all of this works...but still it's not rocket science.

I agree, Its the people who play daily I want for Friends, regardless of their level. And cute towns help too!
