Consumerism question

Disco Stu's - Obedience (10pts)
Lard Lad - Gluttony (10pts)
Krustylu Studios - Obedience (10pts)

If you need Consumerism, the only (premium) buildings that add to that are SprawlMart, Ferris Wheel (can have multiples of), Pet Shop and Try N Save. All add 10pts to it each.

I thought I read on the wiki that Disco Stu's did increase consumerism.

Of course, it also said the wax museum increased consumerism, which I investigated and found inaccurate.

According to my notes, Stu's Disco goes to Obedience. The wax museum, for some insane reason goes to Indolence. Maybe because it has wax people and that is their home? Who knows.

I think the wiki bases their categories according on what symbol is over head. The wax museum has a cash register, which is the same as the KEM, a known consumerism booster.

Premium stores I have down as consumerism
    Try N Save
    Ferris wheel
    Sprawl Mart
    Springfield Pet Shop

It has a stack of cash, actually. There are stores that also have stacks of cash (like Android's Dungeon, which I confirmed as a consumerism booster) but a lot of other things have it, like Burns Manor (not sure what that contributes to) and the Gift Depot from the xmas update (consumerism) and the courthouse (obedience) Madam Chao's (gluttony) etc.

*edit* I checked, and it's indolence, all right. Weird.

There were some stuff-ups for Level 34 (Patty & Selma) as well as Level 35 (Van Houtens), where things were classified as the wrong Conform-O-Meter types.

*Batchelor Arms was Consumerism (now Indolence),
*Cracker Factory was Indolence (now Gluttony),
*Office of Unemployment was Indolence (now Obedience),
*Pet Store was Obedience (now Consumerism),
*Spinster Appts was Obedience (now Indolence)

They were all done with the Valentines update. There's been no other major reshuffle to the C-O-M besides this.

Yeah, take the icons with a grain of salt. They're irrelevant to the building type, unfortunately.

...Though I suppose that makes sense, as there's 6 "types" of buildings that pay out - Indolence, Gluttony, Obedience, Consumerism, Vanity (Cemetery, etc.) and "Unclassified" (Bowlarama, Duff Stadium etc. - 14 in total in this category). There's only 3 symbol types for buildings payout.

Totally irrelevant? Because it seems to me that the stack of cash is the only real wild card.
If a building has a cash register and I put it in storage, my consumerism will drop. If it has a dollar sign, it will impact my indolence. Menu, it'll be gluttony. I haven't tested every single building, though; are there exceptions to this?

I actually wish EA would say what items increase what rating when purchasing buildings, they do it for decorations, it would allow people to see, and help decide what they want to buy, rather than trusting external sources for the info. Just my thoughts though :)

It would certainly make choosing buildings i want in my town much easier, especially as it's consumerism that's not budging from the current 4 stars i have no matter what i add to my town :(

Ugh, tell me about it! There's a reason I know that things like the gift depot increase consumerism and the wax museum does not; I checked a number of random things to get an idea of how much consumerism I had. Xmas gave me a total of five consumerism buildings, and I spent donuts to get Howard's Flowers, and I built two extra Kwik e marts, and in total I have something like 22 consumerism buildings (unless I counted wrong) and still, I'm barely at 4 stars. Storing my two extra Kwik e marts will drop me to 3.5 stars.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: consumerism needs a decoration just like gluttony, obedience, and righteousness.

If it's related to the cash register icons on shops, then i can't see why as a decoration they can't add a 'Buzz Cola' Vending machine and a Snack vending machine that we can have multiples of around town. I mean, Buzz Cola and Snack Vending machines need cash, we have seen the cash used in them in The Simpsons episodes over the years, i think they would be a great addition to the game and help consumerism a bit more (ok, i admit, those two items i want to see in my town). It's a pain in the backside this consumerism rating :(

Much as I like the vending machine idea, I think those are more likely to be gluttony boosters if they're ever introduced. Advertisements (non-premium billboards or a bus stop with advertising) and shopping carts would be our best bet for consumerism.

I like the idea of shopping carts and ads. I also think that newspaper dispensers should give to consumerism intead of vanity though. Also they could add a souvenir cart for the squidport. And just give us more stores in general. Now that I have Otto I'd like to see Stoners Pot Palace added, with a new task for Otto like 'Mistakenly shop at SPP.' For now I just have too many Kwik-E-Marts. I try to hide them behind my skyscrapers and bigger buildings.

Some buildings that could be for consumerism could include the leftorium or red blazer realty
