Why what happened in your day?
Yea will do
Oh you know.. Just the strengthening of the malpractice case against my old orthodontist
Ahh i see busy / long day then
Actually I'm going to rant about it, you don't mind do you neo? :P
So basically what happened was, before I had my braces put on years ago, there was a back bottom baby tooth that wasn't falling out so they removed it. The ortho told me there was no adult tooth underneath and never will be so he put the braces on and closed the gap, therefore shifting all my bottom teeth over by one tooth (stupidest thing I've ever heard of but he never gave me another option and I trusted him) anyways my teeth were perfect apart from the fact my bottom teeth didn't line up with the top but who cares, nobody sees your bottom teeth anyway. So that was that.
Now years later well surprise, this adult tooth that was never going to be there has surfaced but obviously has nowhere to go, it's been growing underground so to speak for however long and causing damage under the gum line. My once perfect tooth next door now has to be removed because the new tooth has broken through it and is touching the nerve (yes I've been in agony for the last few weeks). It's quite complicated that's why they couldn't remove it on the spot. So 15 X-rays and two ct scans later I'm scheduled to have this tooth surgically removed next week, it's not a standard extraction. I've also been informed that because of the location of the tooth I could possibly end up with permanent nerve pain and numbing behind my bottom lip. Terrific right? But wait it gets better again, there's no way of knowing if this new tooth underneath will come up normally or is fused to the bone due to being under ground for so long, until they remove the tooth on top and make room for it. If it is fused to the bone I will also need that tooth surgically removed so I'll be 2 adult teeth down.
Either way I'm going to need braces on the bottom again and will need an implant tooth, or two if I need the second tooth removed.
Now the orthodontist has offered to pay for all of this I'm guessing in a plea to prevent me from suing but I'm not going to lie I'm thinking of suing anyway for malpractice.
I will decide after I have the tooth removed. If I end up with permanent numbing and nerve pain and if the underground tooth is fused to the bone, needing extraction as well I will definitely be suing.
Now I'm not the type of person to hold people accountable for things, I usually let people walk all over me and get away with murder but not this time. My teeth are too important to me to let someone ruin them and get away with it.
Holy Moly!!!! I wasnt expecting you to say all that
