What would happen to the Simpsons if...

Prev1
I been thinking about that as well, if it was someone who provides mult. voices like Hank etc. I think it would be too weird to get replacements and should end. They must have some sort of back up plan for major loses like advanced recordings to finish a season and not have it end abruptly. I try to keep it out of mind mostly

Considering that the show is on it's last couple of seasons it wouldn't make much of a difference, because the show is at its end. They already did everything for this season and are probably half way thru the next season.

It's gunning for the number 636- the primetime episode record currently held by Gunsmoke. Once that is broken in April of 2016 then the show might be on its last legs but Groening and Fox seem to like having the show on...

I'm willing to bet that if hank passed, that would be the show.
Unless they could find someone to do those voices spot on.

I personally hope the show stays on because I still watch it, and that'll feed this game more content so it's a win win in my opinion. :D

I doubt it goes past the next contract for the actors, maybe 2017 and that's it. So 30 full years, 661 episodes.

Hey I'll take that! And at the end of the day you never know, they might just get an extension again.

I personally think they would stop the show if one of the main cast died, be a sign of respect more than anything, of course i hope they wouldnt stop filming but if the voices werent spot on of computer generated from their voices then if wouldnt be worth watching :(

Have to say sad subject to talk about :(

Thats right, I'm kinda glad that they're not replacing The voice of Edna.

+1  Totally agree, i think replacing certain characters voices would actually ruin it, not replacing her is a good sign of respect

I think that they will replace them with other voice actors you see a lot of voice impressionists nowadays so I think they would get someone to do that, they will just listen to the caricatures voice and practice at it until they get it right. Thats what I think would happen

I would think that they would try to audition someone else for the position, and retire some of the minor characters. If a cast member of the family went then I think they would have to stop the show out of respect, or they would kill the character off in an obscure storyline.

In my honest opinion, I don't think The Simpsons will ever end, or at least not end for years and years, don't ask me how

I just can't see the simpsons ending, surely it'll effect Fox's ratings drastically as well

the show could run for another 30 seasons, but only if they start introducing some new characters that slowly but surely replace the old cast (that way characters that are not liked by the audience can be killed off); these new characters should be voiced by new, young upcoming voice actors - actually this is long overdue, and the chance of a sudden end due to one or all of the voice actors leaving/dying/whatever is getting bigger and bigger. it would also bring new life into the series if new characters are added - just see how soaps survived for decades with new casts

nah, i'll tell y'all what they should do: if someone who voices major characters dies, then they write an episode where either that character dies. then the other characters go to that characters funeral, and they all give eulogies to the actor who voiced it. then and only then, is where you learn of that's the end for the simpsons or not.

at least, that's how i would do it.

They should go to 666 episodes and the 666th episode be a Halloween special
