Does anybody else dream about moving to USA?

Prev1345
I have lived in Sweden for over five years, lived in America three years. Sweden rocks! Best women, great food, bubbling nightlife and you would be suprised how low taxes are in comparison to other countries.

Where do you live in Sweden? Under a rock or at a farm? Because your description doesn't fit Sweden at all...

Although I never lived in one of both places, from What I have seen from visiting and talking to people, the Sweden I know is not the Sweden you discrete, like Wijsheid said.

Do you live somewhere really remoted? Cause I think you need to move to a city then.

Plus, think about the size of USA and the size of Sweden. If Americans want to go to a major gaming event they arent going to find it wherever they live. They have to travel quite some distance. If you were to go to Germany, you can find a pretty big gaming event ( gamescom in Cologne). Look around you! There's a lot of stuff to do in Europe/Sweden if youre willing to travel a little like a lot of Americans do!

Swedish women are the worst type of women in the world. They have no hobbies and nothing interesting to talk about in a conversation. All they can talk about is either 1) Education or 2) Pets/animals
There's nothing else they care to talk about. American women love to talk about video games and movies and they love to go out and have a fun time. I can talk with American women for hours upon hours and never get bored because they are so fun to talk to.
Also, if you're into blonde women, look no further than Minnesota in USA.

Swedish food? I'm REALLY curious about this one because the last thing people associate Sweden with is the food. Can you be more specific what food you're referring to? The only Swedish food that comes to my mind are meatballs which quite frankly, are dull. Every other restaurants here sell foreign food like burgers, pizzas, etc.

The nightlife is extremely dull. In America, you have huge events and gatherings where you have lots of fun together. In Sweden, you have a bar where you sit down and drink a beer and if you're lucky, the average looking girl at the bar will agree to go home with you.

Taxes in Sweden are much higher than in USA.

Also I live in one of the largest cities in Sweden (has over 100k in population).

It's much more expensive to travel around in Europe than it is to travel around in USA. Plus in USA you have conventions and events in every state. Thus you don't even need to cross the borders of your state to go to the nearest fun event. Here in Sweden, I need to go to another country for any sort of fun. That's extremely tedious and not easy no the wallet.
There are zero things to do in Sweden. Look at websites like "meetup" and compare the number of events in Sweden with the number of events in California. USA is far superior in every aspect.

Travelling in Europe is not more expensive than travelling around the US. You can get pretty cheap plain tickets and there are a lot of affordable hotels everywhere. Traveling by car is just as easy. Believe me, i do it a lot. Just came back from Copenhagen by car. Nothing to worry about.

Dont get me wrong, i wouold lov living in the US. I would prefer new England but to each his own. My only point is that i love to live over here as well. And i dont think that the US would be a lot better per definition.
There are a lot of great party's here in addition to sitting in a bar. I could go to a big party 7 days in a week if i wanted to and i wouldnt have to go far.

Would you like to live in the US? Yes! Is it far superiour in every aspect? Sorry, but no.

No, definitely not one of my first choices but I 100% want to get out of England. I'll probably end up in Spain or Portugal (would have preferred Australia but they're fussy!) but not for a few years yet.

Don't know about the other items but I think you will be disappointed in the taxes. Oh and you are to buy Health Insurance; not government provided

USA is a great place to visit. I go there a LOT. Been to 31 states so far, plan on visiting them all in due course.

Would I live there permanently? Tricky to be certain. The health insurance system and having to do your own taxes would make me hesitate for sure.

Ireland is nicely placed for me - I can party here plenty, plus I can get to events in Europe a few times a year easily enough - usually for long weekends. My major holiday of the year is normally to somewhere in the USA.

All said, I think I've got the best of several worlds - which kinda suits me.

You wanna go? Then go - to each his own, right? Do what suits YOU!

I would rather visit the US than live there, Sweden seems like a nice place to settle for a relaxing and peaceful life. Some of the things you said about Sweden reminded me about the US. I even looked at multiple websites of 'Best Places to Live'
and most of them came up with Sweden as one of them.

I suppose it depends what you're looking for, somewhere you can have a great social life, lots of parties etc or somewhere to settle have a family. Depends on your age and a lot of things really.

When I was 18 I thought I could only live in a city, now I'm thinking about having kids that would be awful! God that makes me sound old, I swear I'm not lol

There are certain aspects of the United States that interest me for living purposes but I don't think I could actually get up and move permanently, to any country for that matter. I have way too many family members to leave.

If I was to move anywhere it would be the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Although there are a lot of things that drive me up the wall on a daily basis here in Australia, those things aren't as evident in the Sunshine Coast as they are here in Sydney so I'm confident I would be happier.
