Or you could put 3-6 brown houses somewhere and leave them for the coin fiends.

I have just started leaving the Simpsons house and 2 brown houses so my neighbours always have something to click on.

Big thanks to those who make the effort to search the rest of my town in search of bigger houses and not take the easy way out.

It's not enough. 3 houses is good for 1 visitor to get 3 coins. If you've got 80 friends (and you don't like farming), you need to leave them untapped (to be good to your friends).

Also, if you don't log on for an hour, the brown houses won't be available since they were clicked by other friends.

    Yes they will... :P
Whenever someone taps it the timer resets
So if someone taps a brown house and leaves, 5 mins later someone else shows up and they can tap that brown house.
Otherwise why would the Simpson House regenerate for one player every 45 secs?

Simpsons house has a turnaround of 45 seconds. You go to a friends town no available houses to tap, tap the Simpsons house. You can either wait the 45 seconds or go to next friends town to tap and by the time your done Simpson house has the dollar sign again.

Wait, so you're saying that if I haven't been online in an hour, and there's a handshake on a brown house, it's possible that 12 different friends have clicked it? That's a relief.

But then why do some friends have lots of houses with no coins, even when I log out and back in many times in a half hour? It doesn't seem like those houses have reset and it can be very frustrating.

Which was my point. :) Rather than tapping like mad, maybe help your friends get more Santa coins instead? :)

Buildings and land still costs in-game currency, so non-house farmers, as you've mentioned, may not be in the position to not tap any of their income-generating homes. Plunking down 3 extra brown houses as noted, along with the Simpsons, Flanders, and Van Houten homes should be more than sufficient to be a good neighbor. Ask them not to tap the extra brown houses and Simpson mansion.

{edit} or delete and add new as many here say they are doing! :)

Yes, even if there's a handshake showing for the owner, visitors can still tap on the house when its timer is up.

As for why some friends have lots of houses with no coins, it's probably because they're actively playing and collecting from those houses. If you can't find coins on any houses, just go wait by the Simpsons house. Within 45 seconds, you'll be able to collect from it, and then in another 45 seconds you'll be able to collect from it again.

I'm guilty of tapping my own houses out of habit. I'm trying to break that.

Wait 45 seconds? Times 3?! Is that even possible?!

Thanks for the tip! I'm still gonna leave mine untapped, though, in case my friends are as obsessed and impatient as me, and hopefully they'll reciprocate. :)

I do the same thing. That $ sign over them bugs me, and I just have to get rid of it. I do have 6 brown houses I put out for the event located off to the right side that I don't ever collect from though.

Haha, it does take a little patience. I use that time to look around that friend's city and appreciate their designs.

Great topic! I've currently got 50 brown homes in my Springfield, so you're pretty much guaranteed your 3 coins with every visit. Just send me a friend request: RonNasty64

I tap all my dollar signs. There are four brown houses in my town which, along with the Simpsons, Flanders and Houten houses, should be plenty enough for my friends to have something available when they drop in no matter when they do.

If I refrain from tapping on the more expensive houses (all my houses are decorated) then they might not be tapped by a friend for hours and I'd be missing out on collecting tax far longer than normal, even though there'll be coin-houses available to visitors anyway. On the other hand, even if I collect from all the quick-generating houses like the browns they'll be ready again soon for any who stops by.

This is a good point. I always clear the expensive houses immediately. It's the brown houses I leave untapped. I've got about 12 of them (which I pulled out of storage for the Santa coins spread out since I don't like farms). Does it mean I'm obsessed with trying to impress my friends? lol

It's sweet, but if you think about it it's not really necessary as long as you have a handful of browns. Them and the three regular character houses all regenerate quick enough to be available for any visitors. I'd say tap away. :-)

If you come across a friend that only has one or two houses decorated, you can wait 45 seconds for the simpsons house to regenerate a new coin to tap. In those cases I'd just vandalize a random building to help their righteousness rating.
