You need to click on an undecorated brown house and change it to the decorated facade, like you do with mayan homer, devil flanders, etc.

You will only be able to collect 5 coins for all those brown houses anyway. 5 coins per type of house. The advantage to having 10 decorated brown houses is for friends that are visiting for coins.

It's a little annoying that you only get 5 per house type, but I guess it would be far too easy otherwise. Keep the extra brown houses out though if you can, it's easier for friends visiting your Springfield to collect coins from them.
