Future Days - Can
Rock Bottom - Robert Wyatt
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Apostrophe - Frank Zappa
OK Computer - Radiohead
Led Zeppelin - II
Master of Puppets - Metallica
A State of Wonder - Glenn Gould
[ignored jazz, world, dance, basically kept it to "pop" "band" stuff (aside from the Gould). Be here all night otherwise]
Bands:
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Can
The Mothers of Invention
Pink Floyd
Radiohead
Tortoise
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Queen
The Soft Machine (well, the early albums anyway)
[again, ignored individual artists and people from disparate genres. gotta stop somewhere]
Composers: (my main area of interest)
J.S. Bach
L. van Beethoven
B. Bartok
D. Shostakovich
I. Stravinsky
M. Ravel
C. Debussy
S. Prokofiev
S. Reich
G. Ligeti

the Wall
Momentary Lapse of Reason
Pulse
Welcome to My Nightmare
Crime of the Century
Seocnd Life Syndrome -Riverside
Edgar Allen Oe-Tales of Mystery and Imaginaton
Dust Bowl - Joe Bonamassa
I agree wholeheartedly on the top two and I would have slotted your #3 as my #4 but I have to say I'm more than a bit surprised to see A Momentary Lapse of Reason slotted that high. Sorrow is a good song but the album as a whole is, I feel, nowhere near as strong as Animals (my #3). And no Meddle either? That's "One of These Days" and "Echoes"! Far be it from me to question the taste of a fellow Floyd fan, I'm just a bit surprised is all.
1. Wish You Were Here
2. Dark Side of the Moon
3. Animals
4. The Wall
5. Meddle
6. Led Zeppelin IV
7. Abbey Road
8. Are You Experienced?
9. Let it Bleed
10. Back in Black
I agree that Animals contained some stronger songs, but Dark Side of the Moon held a deeper meaning, more depth of sole, as a composition. At least for me, anyway. That's the great thing about music - it speaks to each of us in different ways, holds different meanings for us, yet brings us together more than most anything in the history of humankind. YMMV
This is too tough! I'll just post my favorite albums.
The Beatles - Revolver
Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
Pavement - Brighten the Corners
Radiohead - The Bends
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Radiohead - OK Computer
Sugar Ray - Sugar Ray
Third Eye Blind - Blue
Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein
Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell
Wilco - Summerteeth

I think I posted my list while you were writing. I slotted Animals below Dark Side for the same reasons you did, what surprised me was seeing A Momentary Lapse of Reason listed and Animals not. Not that there's anything wrong with AMLOR, I just see the Dark Side to Wall run Floyd has at the peak of music in the last half century.
I can't believe I forgot about Meddle. Shoot me now. I have failed as a PF fan. Momentary Lapse of Reason for sentimental reasons,
Division Bell vor the commentary a out the band's relationship to each other.
I also forgot Zep, and Yes, and Booker T and the MGs.
I have almost 15,000 songs on my Ipod and I run them from A-Z 1,2,3. I can go from Big band to PF to Mars Lasar to Enigma and the Captain Kangaroo Theme song in the same hour car drive. I love it.
I remember driving back from BAND CAMP with my brother listening to Crime of the Century on an endless loop of an 8-track tape driving a little yelloe Opel with the windows down and the hot August air blowing past. Priceless.
This is way too difficult and I could spend hours stressing over details, so I'll just list off the top of my head what comes to mind first.
In no particular order, bands/artists:
Dead Can Dance
Doves
Curve
New Order
Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers/Greg Dulli
Radiohead
Blur
The Smiths
Bauhaus
PJ Harvey
And now albums:
School of Seven Bells - Ghostory
The Tragically Hip - Day for Night
The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart
Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X
Radiohead - The Bends
Imogen Heap - I Megaphone
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Curve - Gift
Metric - Fantasies

Oh yes, love Dead Can Dance, especially the first three albums....and will take Joy Division over New Order, but I still like New Order. Just too hard to remember everything....better question might be what are the last 20 songs from your MP3 player (assuming it is on random)

No, I've been slacking on their newer stuff, I haven't heard Diamond Eyes yet either.
