I want it as a decoration. Just a crashed monorail car. As much as I would love Lyle Lanley I don't think we'll ever get a Phil Hartman character.

I don't think we should either. Those characters were retired on the show out of respect to Hartman, who was brutally murdered by his own wife. I think bringing any of them back for something as trivial as an assuredly temporary mobile game would be beyond disrespectful.

And that's what breaks my heart. I hate to admit it, but I don't think the game developers will ever posthumously resurrect characters who's voice actors have passed. :(:(
Aw, it's not for [us]. It's more of a Shelbyville idea.

    Hahahahaha!! Good one! Lol!

:( IMO I think its more disrespectful to not include Hartman characters since he was a such a good part of Simpsons history. If its trivial, everyone should take down their Hartman avatars, homage, etc. We just love his characters, comedy and legacy.

I'd agree with you if the show brought them back. Barring that, they have no place in Tapped Out. This is, of course, only my opinion.

Edit: I'm not going to address the other part of your comment about avatars, etc - as I see that as an entirely separate issue.

This may be a surprise based on my avatar - but I voted no. The monorail doesn't work in the show so why should it be added to the game? I'd love to see a storyline with a playable monorail conductor resulting in a crashed / abandoned platform but that's about it.

I understand wanting the monorail because the episode was so good, but I also have my doubts about how well it would work. I wouldn't want to build it like squidport, because we all know it shouldn't be functional anyway. Might be nice if the generic donut place used to stop it was released, though, since lard lad is premium. But yeah, I just don't know if it would work. I think the chilli cook-off that's been proposed around here would make for a better "summer event."

It can be functional as the old Springfield got destroyed at the beginning of the game and this is new Springfield.

Monorail would be cool but it should have been implemented much earlier. i don't want to have to completely redesign my town so i can figure out how to put track all over town.
Plus i would want it to have a track of some sort and not a small thing like the Springfield mall and call it the monorail.
I do think buying track sections like squidport would be the way to go as it gives you something to work towards.
But that would take the fun out of it. When new major infrastructure projects are proposed in a city they have to deal with this stuff too. I think for many of the older players it would be fun to do a redesign of some sort to keep them busy for a while.

What I do feel is that if there was no extra land added then we'd have a reason to hate the update, because everything about it would require a lot of space.

Besides for all we know they can release the chili cook off and the monorail if they really wanted to. Remember last year we got 2 things in the summer (Squidport and krustyland) so you never know, they may just add 2 things this year as well. Perhaps they'll try to top what they did last year. Either way I'm sure it'll be good.

    I voted yes :D

Give us the monorail station that can only be built on the end of town (far right)
Put Springfield Gorge in the game and have the monorail go over it like in the opening for Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart
    screebshots_11+copy.jpg

The other side of the gorge will be a whole new set of land.
Players who have most of their town full will only need a space for the monorail station. They can build the monorail tracks on the other side of the gorge.
Like with KrustyLand, taskless characters will automatically appear in whatever side of town you're on.
Unlike KrustyLand, all buildings, houses, etc can be moved to the other side of the gorge
I like the idea, but I would not want half of my town to be like krustyland where I'd have to load it everyime I want to get into it. If they can implement that and still have everything on one map I'd be happy. The likeliness of that happening is pretty low tho. We can only wish.

they brought out a talking lionel hutz doll after his death (4 years after it i think) i don't see why they couldn't put him in the game..

I'm guessing it will be the monorail station with a piece of track. I can't see how they would make a full version work without serious lag/crashing issues.

This is why I voted no.

I mean, even the helicopter is laggy for me sometimes. A functional monorail sounds like my nightmare. The only way it would work is if it's a portal to a new area like Shelbyville, or it's a decoration.

Oh sure, because the game performs so well as it is and we have an abundance of land to fit an entire monorail track.

They certainly could. Like I said, my opinion only. I would find it a disrespectful, profit-motivated move by EA and I would quit playing immediately if they did. FWIW - I also thought that stupid doll was disrespectful the moment I saw it come out.

Yeah, but maybe just the stations, the actual track might be difficult from a design point. Then again, maybe theyd use a similar system to the boardwalk with track. But it would be some messy looking design if it did involve track and stations. Perhaps have it, then it ends with the monorail literally crashing and burning. The track goes but the stations stay?

Dunno. But I think itd be a cool update/event.

Depends on the mechanics of the update. I'll like it if I can build mine piece by piece and in any shape I want (well almost). If it's just going to be another aspirational, then I wouldn't bother.

I'd love to have it, but I can't think of how it could be really made practical in the game. It could be put in our Springfields as is, but it would just be kind of weird, and take a lot of work to make it fit in what we've built. I don't think another whole area works just to fit the monorail. Just an expansion of our towns? Naw. If our land got bigger, and had Springfield gorge, that might be cool.

i think it will end up a aspirational or part of a level update that ends up a disaster.

for reasons many of us have brought up it seems hard to make it a working one especially with how unstable the game can be.

I'm assuming that the monorail will be one of the aspiration purchases... 2 million to buy, and they'd give us a little strip, about the size of the escalator to nowhere. That way, it'd look really cool and it wouldn't impose on the rest of our springfields.
