I'm assuming that the monorail will be one of the aspiration purchases... 2 million to buy, and they'd give us a little strip, about the size of the escalator to nowhere. That way, it'd look really cool and it wouldn't impose on the rest of our springfields.

I think it would cost a lot of in-game cash for sure being so many people keep asking for it ;) What they could probably do is make it that you have to build the monorail in sections costing a certain amount of in game cash for each piece with building times etc.

IMO the games already buggy enough without having a fully functioning monorail in it! If it were to have tracks like the boardwalk as people have suggested as well as animations... Omg I can only imagine the amount of glitches and bugs that would come with it. The way EA has been doing things lately, I can't seeing be it done WELL without problems popping up.

The monorail being the size of the escalator to nowhere seems a bit small for my liking. If it is going to be an aspirational (and an expensive one at that), I would prefer it to be at least the size of the stadiums... somehow. Maybe it can be a prototype monorail/demo model.

I know I have said this before but, for me, the way to make the monorail work would be something akin to Hit and Run ... Small section of track, platform and wrecked loco. Could be built as part of a quest line where we also get Lyle Lanley (if that were to happen, which I doubt).

However we would need a permanent task for every other character to chase Lanley.

I talking about the monorail since last year - though i think Springfield desert and springfield gorge should come first. In the end I don't know if we will get the monorail... Lyle was voiced by Phil hartman and I don't see them ever adding any of his characters to the game

i'd love it if it happened tho.

but then again I'd love an actual stable release from EA

What if they made the bulk of the monorail track a fake backdrop on the edge of Springfield opposite the fake mountain range. With that gorge. Then had a quest involving that episode, ending with the introduction of an item -- the crashed monorail itself. When a person got that car, the "fake" background in that immediate area could change to something more appropriate to a crashed monorail track, but that whole side of our screens could also be picturesque with the mountains and gorge.

Far from perfect, but a compromise nonetheless. That plain green stretch of background we have right now is awful. Why not give the illusion to extend it at least visually? And when they add more land, the fake edge picture just shifts over.

Biggest issue I could see is that we would need to place our monorail item in a specific spot in our town.

I just don't see a way that can add this that would make people happy. There are still a lot of other iconic Simpsons people / places to be added that won't make everybody unhappy no matter how they put it in. I am personally hoping for Lurleen Lumpkin.

Depending on how they do it, I could run it across the entire bottom of my town

If it is released I fear it will resemble the Tooth Chipper.

I'm puzzled by people who would not want this! It could very, very cool.

I am For the monorail because it's something new for the game but I hope it does not crash the game if it takes us to another city or whatever

A working monorail would probably take up too much space. They could have a stationary monorail anchored to the donuts sign like at the end of the monorail episode.

I voted yes because anything new is good, but I'm not really bothered either way to be honest!

I voted no because I think EA would screw it up.

HOWEVER, this is the best monorail-related idea I've ever seen :D :
    I voted yes :D

Give us the monorail station that can only be built on the end of town (far right)
Put Springfield Gorge in the game and have the monorail go over it like in the opening for Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart
    screebshots_11+copy.jpg

The other side of the gorge will be a whole new set of land.
Players who have most of their town full will only need a space for the monorail station. They can build the monorail tracks on the other side of the gorge.
Like with KrustyLand, taskless characters will automatically appear in whatever side of town you're on.
Unlike KrustyLand, all buildings, houses, etc can be moved to the other side of the gorge
