Characters or character building combos are a good choice

Also buying limited time items are as well since it's unknown when/if they will return

i would buy character-building combos but avoid the ones that were previously freemium for now (b/c they might come back later as freemium again). those are great if you like quests and building design. i don't remember the donut prices on each character though. for around 300 donuts, you could get at least 2 nice character-building combos.

as above posters said you get more bang for your buck when you buy a building a character so what is important to you? who do you like in the show? buy those characters but I would say the luan cracker factory is a good one, I'm a big duff man fan so I like duff factory. but you might also want to buy some of the guys that will happen in the Stonecutters event like Jasper which comes from the community center or professor Frink but you can win professor Frink in Homer Buddha.

Excluding the Chest of Sacred Artifacts (which is one of the prizes), all of the Stonecutter's premium items cost exactly 302 donuts. Which then leaves you with 3 remaining donuts for white fences. 8)

Given your comment, I take it that you haven't bought any premium stuff yet. If you don't own any of the premium stuff yet, then you should consider getting a classic character/building combo. I classify the character/building combos into two categories: 1) classic, important Springfield characters/locations and 2) fun, but frivolous characters/locations. For example, I consider Barney/Bowl-a-rama classic, but I think Miss Springfield/Sleep Eazy Motel is frivolous (they're fun, but not really necessary).

Since it's you're first purchase (I'm assuming), you should go with a classic set. Luann and the Cracker factory is one of my favorites. It comes with 2 decent questlines AND you get the Fleet-a-Pita unlocked. Manjula and Apu's Apartment is good too, but a lot of her tasks are joint with Apu. Crazy Cat Lady is a personal favorite too, but she's kind of frivolous (but so fun  ).

Ultimately, it comes down to what you like. You can either get a few cheaper things like the Aztec theater, Dr. Nick, Hans Moleman, etc. or get a couple of the cheaper character/building sets like Dewey Largo and Luann (which would total 300 donuts) or you could get one really expensive, but cool set like Barney and the Bowl-a-rama or the Volcano Lair (200 donuts, which would leave you with enough to get something else). If you can narrow it down to a few things, I'm sure people here (myself included) would be glad to give you advice on what to buy. I'm always seeking the advice of the forum before making a purchase. :)

    +1
    White fences! That's hilarious!

10 of those jet bikes would give you the best bonus per donut cost.

But seriously... get a building with a character. If you don't mind spoilers, look at the web sites that have pros/cons of buying the things your looking at.

As a totally freemium player with some donuts from this event, those web sites are what I'm looking at.

If you have no premiums I'd rather buy some classic ones rather than event ones (altough the pyramid is really cool). And building+character is always the best thing. My personal favs among classics are Barney, Duffman, Frink, Otto and Cat Lady. If you go for Otto (120) you can afford another one, except for Barney.

Its so difficult to decide which to get. At the moment im in this frame of mind.

Stonecutter Alien - 100 donuts - Its a timed event character, hopefully will have some emblem quests and regular tasks too (im not a fan of characters that have no tasks to do like the yeti and snowball 2)
Cracker factory - 150 dounuts - With people telling me it gives questlines, a character and unlocks the fleet-a-pita van (fun episode) seems like this is the best combo to get right now

which leaves me with 55, so combos are out, maybe wait until I hit 60 and get a character like bumblebee man

I would have liked barney but hes way too high a cost

I'd go with Frink instead of the Cracker factory since it's been pointed out he has a big role in many of the events, has a skin you can get for 12 donuts. I got the cracker factory instead of him and am already regretting getting it...

I'm really glad I have Dr Nick and Professor Frink, FWIW.

Keep in mind, too, that you can earn more donuts throughout the event. If you're at the max level of friend points, you can collect donuts while visiting neighbors, AND once you've gotten all the Stonecutters prizes, you can collect donuts for emblems until the end of the event (so they say..).

Im not sure I follow, you mean once I can no longer get fp (I just did my friends and I can only do 177 more fps) I will get donuts instead?

Yes, it's a perk at maxing out your FP level which is currently level 9. It's a 1 in 300 shot per tap in your neighbors' towns but it's still a nice perk.

If you are a Stonecutter fan, I would be buy everything premium that is stonecutters (except the chest because you get one as a personal prize) because its likely that stuff will not return. If not I would save them until after the event, see what we get, and then make a choice.
