Friendless in Springfield

Yep, Origin is down for most people, hence, most people can't visit, or even see their friends right now. Won't be back until the server issue is fixed.

Considering we need nearly 4400 coins to complete all the Christmas stuff, I don't think it would be unreasonable for EA to credit everyone N * 3 coins for today's outage, where N being the number of friends you have.

As bad as the issue has been, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something. I think the most likely thing they'll do is extend the event though, rather than just crediting people with coins or donuts for their troubles.

That works too. Just as long as I manage to get Santa's Little Helper before this is over.

Which stinks, I liked the deadline they had set of Jan 3, if they extend t is going to lead to all sorts of speculation on how long because I bet they will not commit to a deadline in case they get more server failure.

As long as they get the server issue worked out in the next few days, you'll still have plenty of time. At the beginning of the event, there was the potential to earn well over 10,000 coins without spending donuts if you just visited all 100 of your friends daily, collected from your decorated houses, and sent Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, and Ned on coin tasks. 4,800 coins is all that is required to obtain everything in the update, including Santas Little Helper.

While that may be true, I don't think they'd even make the extension publicly known until the deadline is approaching. Hopefully by then, they'll have a better grasp on the server stability.

Thanks for posting this and letting me and others know that it isn't just me. Hopefully there will be enough time!

I just got a friend request. Sounds like it's getting close.

Not necessarily. Notifications have still been working throughout the downtime, and there are also people who have still been able to play and view friends.

I have the same issue - all friends gone, no Origin logo. However tonight (US Eastern) I left the game for about 4 hours. Picked it up ~30 min ago. It downloaded some update, but that didn't do anything.

Some people just have their friends, because there were handshake icons over six of my houses. So it's working for someone, but not me.

I've had people visit my city, however I have no friends yet again. This Origin stuff is getting pretty annoying if you ask me.

No friends for me either. At least I can now play in my town, but sadly can't finish building the bowlorama.

They would have to just to save face. This is a big update, a big time of the year, and is suppose to make EA a lot of money and they have just plain dropped the damn ball. They have got to be embarrassed as hell or at least scared that they might lose a large percent of their user base. For them to do nothing to make amends for this debacle would just be stupid.

I think we will probably get a small amount of donuts (10-20) for the troubles.

Out of sheer boredom, I thought it might be fun to put together a screenshot of my Springfield.

P.S. For all the haters out there, yes, I know my Springfield isn't pretty. I'm not fishing for compliments. It just seems silly not to share since I put in so much effort. ;)
