I'm on android- was getting constant "The application Tapped Out has stopped working" errors. If I played more than 3 minutes. I eventually uninstalled/reinstalled the app and it's been fine ever since. Hope that helps.

Yeah, same here. But before I could reinstall the update came and fixed it.
Sorry to bump this but I spoke to soon. I think I jinxed myself. I went a week without the "Unfortunately Tapped Out has stopped working" error and now it's doing it again. About every three minutes of playing. No idea what is going on.
I get random server knock out here or there issues, nothing major. the only major issue I had was during the level 42 release where I couldn't log in or log out, luckily I was logged in on one of my devices so I wasn't locked out during the mess
Occasionally Bart's server connection error prompts while using my home wifi, though I can still access FB... So I just turn off wifi from my iPad & let my 4G take over, and the game works again.
I reckon TSTO needs a high & steady bandwidth for the startup...
What I've noticed is that I'm not getting crashes (well some still) on Android (just updated my 1st gen Nexus 7 to the latest KitKat a few days ago) but hangs. When it comes back I'll get the Windows style TSTO is not responding with buttons to wait, close and report. I don't know if that's new crash handling behavior in the app or in KitKat (since both the level 42 update and OS updates were pretty close in time).

Am I reading that wrong or is that some doublespeak- it says we can resolve and then says it is not fix solution for that, so.....
also said I'd lose all progress since then.
Ha, just asked 'are you sure this would work because earlier you said it would fix it then in the next sentence you said it wouldn't' The adviser responded, "yes this is not a fix solution" :?: :?: :?:
