Yep no celebrations here, we really need more holidays in England now I think about it lol! And not just the Queen's frigging jubilee and stuff that only royalists give a damn about
By the way Kris what's a dinner theater? Do you eat while you watch the movie or something?

Close, it's a restaurant that has a play performed while you are eating your meal. Movies with a meal is an offshoot of that, lots of cinemas are now getting into that with meals served while you enjoy a movie in a nice comfortable booth or luxury chair 8)

I don't think I'd like getting a meal in the middle of a movie, I prefer to snack! The theater thing sounds good though, they do that with comedy clubs over here

That's the beauty of it- you can still snack, it's just sitting and enjoying the movie in nice comfortable seats with the benefit of wait service for refills

Funny thing, they put some of the older movies into these during off days to free up the regular theaters for the newer ones so you don't pay more, and might even pay less

Some of the movie theaters these days are turning into where ya can order food and a server brings it to your table. First one I ever been to was in Houston and it's 100 times better then this one here. But ya can have hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, etc. The one on Houston even had steak you can order. There are appetizers and desserts as well. Oh and the best part they have a bar The one here though is a joke with the prices they charge and the amount of food you get. Just a single chocolate chip cookie is $6!!!
Only reason going to it cause of the free tickets/and 2 $10 off any food item.
The Premiere/IMAX one here at the mall is doing something similar. They don't have tables to eat at while in the movie theater(which even the ones at the one I'm going to is stupid, very small tables that not even 2 people can barely share, and if you're with more then 1 other person, the other person is most likely having to share a table with some stranger.) anyways the IMAX one ya can get have pizza and other things as well but ya have to go get it when they page you for when its ready.

I wish the chairs and tables were like that.... I'll take a pic of them when I get there to show how bad this one is.

I like the bar idea, and a steak too! :-) The prices sound crazy though! I don't like the idea of the IMAX one you mentioned where you have to go get it, cos won't you miss some of the film?
Either way, I doubt the UK would get anything like this anytime soon!

They usually have it ready if you order it in time before the movie starts.
Only reason going back to this one on Friday cause of the free stuff, too much effort to explain it on how bad it was with trying to type on my phone, will later while at the computer but just it was so bad that if it wasn't for the free items I would of never EVER went back there.

Found a pic online showing the awful tables: As you can see there is no lights at the tables to even write an order down if you wanted something during the movie.
So when they first opened the first 3 days was for those who wanted to try out the place and a chance for everyone working there to get trained, so basically the customers were human guinea pigs and everything was SUPPOSED to be half price(this will be proven why later on)
I was with my folks and went to go see Rio 2 cause it was the only thing within the hours they provided that was worth seeing(Could of gone to see Capt America but it was at a later hour and wasnt in 3D which I prefer). When first ordering drinks, they bring the wrong drinks to the table that neither of the 3 of us ordered. Even the group next to us didnt get the right drinks. They werent meant for another row or group of people, just not even the right ones brought out. Me and my mom ordered water, not that hard to screw up ya would think. Me and my mom shared one of those small tables, my dad had to share one with some kid in the next group over. As you can see from the pic as I mentioned the tables are small and barely enough room for 2 people items, specially if they arent sharing something.
So when we ordered the drinks, also ordered cheese fries with bacon and sour cream, 2 shakes, 1 being a salted caramel for my mom and mine was a chocolate chip cookie dough one. About 45 minutes into the movie(Rio 2 is 101 minutes so about your typical animated film length) No shakes, no fries. A lot of food ranging from pizza to burgers to popcorn have already been delivered about 20-30 minutes ago at this point. Fries dont take that long to cook. So found a manager to complain about the shakes and the fries not being brought out.
When the fries finally come out 10 minutes after complaining its about 15 total fries in a 3-4 inch pan. Sour cream covered alot of it. They also brought out no forks or napkins so basically its gonna be messy. Quickly went to go complain again and they gave a total of 2 napkins and 1 fork....3 people were sharing this pathetic excuse of a order. These fries also cost $9 so the price to portion ratio as mentioned was a complete joke.
Also the shakes have yet to come out by this point so ya can figured another complaint was coming and it did. Turns out the stupid waitress didnt even bother putting the shakes on to order. So once again about a 10 minute wait. When they finally do come out, the shakes which cost $5 each, were about 6oz worth of ice cream. The caramel shake was basically vanilla ice cream with barely any caramel syrup drizzled on it and the cookie one I got was basically vanilla ice cream as well with broken up pieces of their already cooked $6 cookies. These are not what I would call shakes. Every where else I get a chocolate chip cookie dough shake, its fully blended in throughout.
I also ordered for a refill on my water, it never came. And when it came time to pay for the half off items, which the manager said everything was gonna be removed, the shakes were charged at a full prize kids size which was $3 dollars each and the fries were charged at the full price. Instead of arguing with the manager again, it was paid off with no tip left. And when got home, quickly filed a complaint on the website which we were sent the 2 free tickets that expire on the 6th and the 2 $10 off for food items. Also was fully refunded the cost of the horrible experience.
So yeah like I said I would of never gone back to that place again. We werent the only table that had issues, alot of things was taken back because of how badly they messed up. They couldnt even bring the endless popcorn correctly. One of the servers had brought a group behind us a bag and then not even a minute later another server brought a bag not realize it was already delivered.
And the fact everyone was still basically training and learning is no excuse for the horrible experience that got endured. Only thing that was good about it was the movie.
My nephew guilted me into going to the beach with him and his sister for the day, so it's going to be a family day with my sisters and them...so sunburns and sand in places I don't even want to mention is how we are celebrating the holiday.
