Why stop? Wouldn't that be for donuts to speed it up?
The stop is for stopping the task. This business of putting their building in storage to stop the task is for the birds!
Speed up with donuts could be left on the menu that happens when you hit "Goto".
And there should be a confirm that comes up on the "Stop".
I wouldn't think they'd want to have both stop and speeding up with donuts. If people will pay to stop a task I don't think they are going to offer it for free. That's what this actually comes down to, just as much as having the feature available on the town census.

I don't think I said that stopping a task would cost donuts. I think furrykitman's question was asking what the "stop" was.
We currently can stop a task for free. And I think it should remain free. I just don't like the way we have to go about stopping a task right now.

No you didn't say that stopping a task would cost donuts. But you said that speeding up would remain, which does cost donuts. So I'm not sure why you would need both?
I don't think the storing a building way of stopping a task is what they had in mind. They obviously wanted that to be something you pay for. And since not all buildings can be stored, not all tasks can be stopped, so we can't really currently stop everything for free.

I see what you are saying, I just don't agree.
When we stop a task by storing the building we are paying for that with in game cash and XP that we will not get for completing the task. If we had to pay with donuts to stop a task, I think that would be severe.
If EA meant for us to not be able to stop a task by storing the building then they should have programmed it that way. That's how Tribez and Tribez and Castles works; cannot sell or store a building that is in use. EA didn't think of it, or they intended it all along to be as it is.
I doubt speeding up with donuts will change, and I think it should not change.
Making a stop button would finally put all tasks on equal footing with respect to being able to stop them. The only building I know of that cannot be stored is the Simpsons house. In fact, if you use the new Nuke button, that is the only house you are left with.
I doubt they'd want to put a Stop button, but I like that. Only the layout is a bit close for fingers on a touch screen. The time to completion is awesome and would be an incredible help.
Not everyone knows about the storing option to stop a task, we all do but a lot of people who don't use the forums or are new to the game wont, so if something comes up (like an event) where they need a certain character they might still spend donuts to speed it up. Which is exactly what EA wants!
Giving a stop option would just be letting EVERYONE know you can do it for free, and there's no reason EA would want to do that!

Yeah, they'd most likely put the speed up thing here like it is in the individual task display. Making it easy for you to spend your donuts on speeding up a task.
I don't normally stop a task. Right now I'm waiting for Lisa who is busy watching I&S, but I need her for the next part of the Failure to Launch. Only a few hours to wait. And I cannot stop her task anyway because you cannot store her house!
If we lose the ability to stop some tasks, I'll adjust.
Yeah probably a good idea.
I personally never needed to stop anyones tasks. But I do remember martin getting stuck in limbo several months ago, I would have used it then.
And maybe moving the buttons further apart, so no mixup

I like this idea of a Stop button, with a timer, at the Town Census.
However, most seasoned players would know that currently not all characters are "storable", eg. Homer & Lisa tasks cannot be stopped because Simpsons house cannot be stored.

Great! Now EA won't add a stop option!
But didn't we get a message at the end of last year saying that we will get Sideshow Bob as a playable character?
This was when they also mentioned the Monorail and also the Stonecutters.
