Why is it that you get so upset about the dialogue on the 4th. I don't get it. It's a JOKE. I mean, it's not like America is really is the greatest nation in the world. It would be hypocritical to even say that.

Homer said that Sweden is the greatest nation in the world. Then Lisa said that it isn't. I'm half-Swedish and I am not crying around like a little baby.

The sad truth is the majority of Americans really do believe we are the greatest nation on earth and our problems are minor. When in actuality we are (as a nation) pompous, self righteous, children who get mad when other people have more toys than we do. We commit war crimes on a daily basis in the name of "freedom" and we alienate our own citizens to no end.

Now...watch how much hate I get for that last paragraph.

I think you'll find that the majority of Americans who believe America is the greatest nation on Earth have also never left the country. I think you'd also find a lot have also never left the state from which they were born.

Sad when less than 10% of Americans own a passport and Europeans it's around 80% own one.

It is really sad when you live in New Mexico and are charged international shipping for an item ordered from a retailer in the US. Yes, it has happened to me.

I have had the awesome privilege of having a US passport and using it to travel to countries across the Atlantic and Pacific. I really did enjoy my time visiting other countries and experiencing all they had to offer. I was also very happy knowing that I would come back to the US. No place is perfect, but I do love the US, warts and all!

That may be because many Europeans can fall down and end up in another country. I can go from the frozen in Alaska, to the tropical in Hawaii. From forests, to mountains, to prairies, to deserts without leaving the contiguous 48 states.

A quick search suggests that the European Union comprises around 4.4 million square kilometers. The United States shows around 9.8 million square kilometers. The area of my state alone is a bit over 250,000 square kilometers. Significantly larger than most countries in the EU. Slightly larger than the UK. My state is a relatively large one, but isn't in the top 5.

I take it as jokes. If you can't laugh at yourself, what is the point of life?

The facts is the writers of the game are socialists,it does not bother me. To be honest I scroll through so fast,I read nothing they write.

    But in homers words......USA!USA!USA!

When another country flies their flag on the moon,I may consider them better than us. Until then.....try and stop us!

Ah yes, the moon. The obvious place to look when comparing countries.
we all have the same opportunity to succeed
    Also lol

Because the size is all that matters.
Now I understand why so many people in this greatest country have also such big butts and bellies ;)

Indeed - the greatest (and heaviest) nation in the world.

Ouch...that's kind of below the belt (underneath the overhanging belly to be specific)

Since you are apparently unaware, the US has 50 states. The contiguous 48 includes neither Hawaii nor Alaska, neither of which are contiguous to any other states.

I understand how this statement may annoy you; but, I don't see how it is "hypocritical".

Anyway, the United States is the "greatest nation" in the world in many aspects. Granted it's not the best in every aspect but it does place highly in enough places for an educated individual to generalize it as the "greatest nation" and build a strong argument. I know Swedish people don't have a high regard for the United States; but, putting politics aside, it is the truth.

What makes the US notable over a nation like say, Sweden? Well, there really are a bunch of small, Northern European socialist states so it could be debated which Northern European socialist state is best day and night. The United States is really the only large developed nation on Earth so that creates for a lot of unique distinctions for the US.

While there is no absolute correct answer for, "Which is the greatest nation in the world?", I would argue that the United States is probably one of if not the easiest nation for one to justify the answer. (The Nordic nations are all really great, though, they just have to compete with each other.) I think Singapore is another nation really easy nation. Maybe Switzerland? I don't know...

P.S. I'd like to add that the individual upset that the United States was slandered on the Fourth of July was probably trolling.

(I'm not going into depth about all the aspects the US is #1 in; but, there really are so so many aspects... many foreigners who say the US is NOT #1 are just as ignorant as the Americans who think it is, from my experience.)

That was a pretty long response when you take into account that you didn't list a single reason.

i am aware plenty, your post was mischievious if not outright misleading. Just because you can travel the tropics to the deserts to the ice within your own culture makes you only as well travelled as a petri disk as it makes its way around the lab.

Pointing out the size of the country still doesn't unprove the original point other than I guess Alaska is now the first state that teachers the metric system now?

It does suggest that there may be geographical reasons to explain why more of us might not visit foreign countries, though I assume that many on the borders have ventured into either Mexico or Canada. I do make the assumption, as always, that all readers are courteous and reasonable.

Well, I live in Finland. And we are known for having the best education system in the world and the US doesn't even come to the top 10. Now what's that all about? Shouldn't the GREATEST nation in the world have the best education? :?:

And maybe all the "Greatest nation" **** is not what actually annoys me. What really gets to me, is when Americans assume that everything was made there. Did you know that text messaging and I'm not sure, but emailing also were invented in Finland? Did you know that Nokia is from Finland? Did you know that Angry Birds, Boom Beach, Clash of Clans and Hay Day are all from Finland?

    You probably did not.
