A similar thing happened to me when Level 42 was released during the Stonecutter Event, I had spent most of my cash on land the day before, not expecting a level update until after the end of the event. It took me almost a week to save up enough for I&S Studios, but I eventually got there! The good news would appear to be that the new KL items are way down in price from what the Tooth Chipper was in the original KL build.
    New neighbors always welcome!

you can build up your tickets again fairly quickly if you keep characters busy doing tasks there...

I don't get why people would do that. An update is bound to hit KL sooner or later. So you should have saved up like 50k then traded in 30k.

I have 400k and never traded them in. I was waiting for a massive expansion, but I'm good for all the current stuff.

I've never done that. Can you go from KL to KL via the arrows? Or do the arrows take you from KL to your next neighbors SF?

No it will take you to the next main town, so basically you have to go back to the main friends screen so you can select the KL next town and so forth, takes a little longer to visit but all depends on how much you need those tickets i guess

Wow, that's silly. The developers should probably do something about that :)

So glad i had 50k tix in the bank. New buildings are constructing now! I've already tweaked the landscaping to accommodate the minor rearranging. When the rides are complete, they'll be open for business right away! Yay!

Always save the amount of tix it could be for a new building. What was the tooth chipper, 30k? So save 50k just in case. Sell the surplus.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

Here's a question I've been pondering: do KL friend actions also have a chance of dropping donuts after you've maxed FP? I don't actually know because I hardly ever visit anyone's KL.

I think all of the buildings are really cheap so you should only be set back a few days.
