Destruction of your castle does not reset the nerd timer, so you don't lose production.

Are you sure about this? I was waiting for the two hours to be up last night, but found my castle wrecked and the timer at a full 2 hours, when it should have been nearly completed. I had 0 nerds at the time, so I would have noticed if I had accidentally picked up any that were generated.

...When you are being attacked, tap on the cheater's die in the upper right corner. It prompts you to touch the screen to defend. Tap on a house that IS NOT being attacked. I'm not sure whether this defends all of your houses at once or what, but it worked for me - the screen flashed white, my die count went down by one and the quest cleared.
This is how my Cheater Dies have been behaving all along, whether I tap an house not under attack or anywhere on the screen (except a defender's shield) as the on-screen instructions direct, my screen fades briefly to white, and all currently under attack houses are instantly defended.

After your post I tried it again this morning, my third attempt/die, and it still has not completed my quest.

I just saw some files get patched on my lunch break a couple minutes ago. I'm hoping maybe there's a fix in there. Does EA post Release Notes somewhere that I can look to check out bugfixes? I'd really hate to waste another (fourth) Die on this bug.

No, I'm not 100% sure anymore about this. I was sure that I got my nerds yesterday when my castle was destroyed, and I've seen posts where others got their nerds as well, but some also seem to have their timer reset. It may be that, if the timer finishes before destruction you get your nerds and it doesn't matter whether the timer resets, but if your timer hasn't finished it resets and you have to wait longer for nerds. This is pure speculation at this point, though.

All in all, safer not to destroy a neighbour's castle with the cheater's dice - save those for random invaders!

I successfully used the cheater20 as a defense.

I was minding my own business in my own town when I noticed a bunch of nerds running around. I tapped on the cheater 20 quest on the lower left side of my screen and a small notice came to the top of the screen that said tap anywhere on the screen to use the cheater 20. I did, was able to defend my town, and the quest went away.

Edit - had no problem using the cheater 20 to destroy a castle yesterday. So both parts of the quest are finished.

OK, just got mine to work. Apparently I was doing it wrong the whole time.

Why you have to touch a house that is not being attacked is beyond me, but whatever. :?

Oh right ok :) I shall give this a go just in case, nice one for posting this

    Edit:

Just tried this any no luck for me :( didnt work, it collected all the attacked houses money etc but the task is still there :(

    No me either :(

This is the right track. I also just figured it out. Basically the Cheater is used to DEFEND(and maybe repair) ALL OF YOUR BUILDINGS BEING ATTACKED AT ONCE. So if you are one of those towns that has 1000 white houses and instead of tapping each one, you simply highlight the Cheater dice, tap anywhere where there isn't a building (IE: tap on some plain grass) and it will collect EVERYTHING with that 1 tap.

I contacted EA support on this aswell, I am having the same issue. Long story short, I finally got a good answer after contacting EA help a 2nd time. The advisor told me to post this bug on the forums, and that he's letting the team know for further evaluation on fixing the issue. [/quote

I contacted them about my purchase of red die/ cheaters with 9 donuts and their disappearance after one use. They said check this forum. How that will help me I do not know. This whole bit with how to use them is too confusing. It makes me not want to tap on the icon since I don,t know if it will tell me how many I have or just spend them all when I tap on it.

Yep, I had a chat with EA support last night and the guy I spoke to ran through a checklist with me, none of it helped the task to clear, so he asked me to wait while he grabbed a a specialist who has the tools to edit the game. He handed me over to them, and they said it was an identified glitch happening to a few people, and hopefully fixed very soon. The guy was nice enough to give me 150 donuts too. Don't know if we will have to buy more dice to re-do it over again, or will the task be bumped automatically. I'm hoping it gets bumped...

Posted this on the other thread... But this is a better explanation on how to "Defend" an attack..

Okay, I finally figure out how to defend. I couldn't figure out why some of the cheater dice was locked in the inventory box until I did this...

When you see your building being attacked, go to your inventory and open up the cheater 20 dice. Tap the use button once. You will clear the defend task.

I'm having the same issue... Used a 20 cheater to defend houses under attack, but no completion for the quest. Attack worked fine.

OK, so due to some interesting back-and-forth with an Invader, I got to test this out twice last night. The first time I had 33 minutes left to collect nerds and was still at the same time when I re-built. The second time was at 18 minutes. Both times I rebuilt, I found that the timer did NOT reset. So I'm not sure which way it is intended to work, but one of us has a glitch. Not to be mean, but I'm hoping that mine is the way it's supposed to work as it seems a little less cruel if I don't have to worry that I'm resetting someone's timers.

I've done this twice today... Task still not completed

I'm having this same issue. The task won't clear for me either. I guess I'm lucky since this is the firsts not glitch I've had with the game! I guess I'll try customer support when I get home tonight. Hopefully they fix this soon.

I tried it twice without success, now I need to wait to get a dice from defending houses and it can take some time since I got only one so far from the beginning of the update

I successfully destroyed a neighbour's building using the red dice, so that part of the task cleared, but I have wasted 6 of the other dices trying to defend my town, but no luck with clearing the task. I have to wait to get more of them, so I will try again, and hopefully complete the task.

If its not working dont waste anymore on trying, we are hoping for a fix to be rolled out soon in relation to this issue, i have brought it to EA attention so they are aware that this part of the quest cannot be completed by some of us myself included

Well, thanks to this thread I was able to defend with my last red die, but I didn't get credit for it with the quest. :-(

What's EA's phone number? I could use 150 donuts.

I, too, have the red die glitch. Can't clear the task either from the icon or from inventory. I am a sad barbarian. :(

This just worked for me; My castle had a blue shield on it from being invaded, I clicked the cheater 20 red dice in the upper right corner and then tapped blank ground in front of the castle with the blue shield still hovering. I received a message saying I completed the quest and the dice are gone from my task list.
