I'm also an Oct 2012 freemium grinder, and I've been very happy with my Frink purchase of a few months back. He has a couple of fun outdoor tasts, and his lab is cool -- I have a little science campus with it, Ultrahouse, Supercollider and Knowledgeuem (sp?).

That said, One Pound Beef makes a good point about Halloween...

Ive got 300 saved and want to get Frink, but he's not going anywhere and there's gonna be limited stuff coming soon (new season, halloween, hopefully futurama tie in) so bear that in mind when buying stuff, especially being freemium.

Frink is great but I also liked the Chester Lampwick quest-line and his car backfiring is great

Frink has to be one of my favorite premium character, his building and outdoor tasks are just great :P

Save for the upcoming events. If you really want to get something now, I would recommend Luann. She has two good quest lines and gives Kirk a permanent eight hour premium quest (Run Cracker Factory). She also unlocks the Fleet-a-Pita which (when used sparingly) is a nice decoration that can be used in both Springfield and Krustyland. It adds to your food based ratings in both areas (Grub and Gluttony).

I picked up Frink this morning

I didn't want to wait for Haloween etc, the whole reason I saved so many was because I kept waiting for the next update/event, but there hasn't been anything to entice me.

I considered Mayan Marge to pair with Mayan Homer but as I have the Marge Witch premium skin I decided I didn't need it.

I was originally saving for the Rich Texan or Arnie Pie, but thought id wait for the next level and event updates to see if something came out...

While waiting I worked my way up to around 125, and the 15 freebies from this event had me seriously frinking about what I should get.
