Players are now experiencing a bad glitch in that when they see the shields, leave to go on neighbor visits, and return…the shields are gone. This is not a good glitch at all. Not only are YOU losing out on that Gold and Elixr collection, but so is the Attacker that put it there. In order to combat that…from now on…I would highly suggest to tap on ALL Shields and clear them out. That way YOU and the Attacker are at least getting something vs nothing at all.

I've not seen that yet. So I'm sticking to my commitment NOT to tap shields. I'll report back if I have problems. So far, so good.

Yet another reason I'm mostly spreading my nerds far and wide. One to a town mostly. If that one town has some issue, like an accidental trip to KL that clears the shields without payment to me or them, or this glitch about trip to neighbors, or anything else that comes up, then I've only lost that one nerd's income.

Sorry you're having issues. I had an issue when I first upgraded the game. Rebooted my ipad and haven't had a single issue since. Ooops, probably shouldn't have said that.

But having said THAT, my question in my first post was to find out if I was correct about shields. So again, IF THE GAME IS STABLE AND WORKING PROPERLY (like mine is, knock wood) is the potential gain (between neighbors working together and leaving respective shields alone so the houses are destroyed) higher than tapping the shields early?

    Thanks for the glitch warning.

Honestly, this is only a good strategy if you can coordinate with the other towns not to tap your shields. Since the best payouts are from the random Springfields, not your neighbors, the likelihood of doing that is slim to none.

First to your question... No. Because if you and the people visiting you would clear the shields then the buildings would be ready for another hit. With the way it was before this morning, 3 hits on a building defended would get you 30 gold versus the 25 gold won from a random house. And you'd have to wait a long time for that 25 gold, while you don't have to wait at all to defend. And you could defend that same house many times a day. Also it will take longer and longer to win an attack, or use of more nerds. To attack and have it defended cost one nerd. Things are changing though. For many, it is now 5 gold instead of 10 for a defense. Maybe the won attacks will start paying more and that will change the best strategy.

Second, I don't know anyone who does not have the KL glitch. Are you sure you don't have it. Leave just one house with a shield and visit KL. When you get back is that shield gone?

I seem to have some neighbors who are not clearing shields. Unfortunately, this means there is never anything to attack in their towns! If a lot of those houses were attacked by random invaders then most of their good, loyal neighboreenos aren't benefiting at all.

Yet another issue with the leave the shields alone strategy. For it to work at all, you'd have to build a massive farm. And I see people doing just that!

This is just what I came here to find out - if people were changing strategies yet, and should I forget KL and let my houses be destroyed. (I did recheck KL yesterday with a shield and also a destroyed house. Both disappeared when I came back to SP and my elixir and gold did not increase. Obviously I don't know if the invaders got anything.)

So for now I will continue to clear shields, visit neighbors (that's just me, I like my neighbors), and spend all extra nerds on random towns. I am increasing nerds on the castles in OS to hurry them up a little.

    Thanks!

This is exactly why that strategy is flawed.

I mean you don't really need a strategy, just send 1 nerd per attack to neighbours and/or randoms, and tap shields on your own buildings. It will still be enough to get what you need, like i'm already at 13,500 gold and there's still weeks until the end of the event.

    Who goes to KrustyLand?

No, I haven't gone to KL. That's a bummer that the glitch is universal.

Thanks for the best strategy scenario. It's starting to make a little sense. I've tried to read some strategy, but muddling through conjecture, uninformed opinion and well, it's the internet after all.... Even then, the top posts seem to have a little discrepancy. It's a fun challenge, and it seems multiple good strategies, perhaps not a best strategy.

The comment about the buildings being ready for another hit is a good one. Hence my comment about house farms. I'm trying to have excess "indolence" for each visitor to have something to hit.

As to the odds of my neighbors complying, some of my neighbors are... me. Many of my neighbors are top level, long time, very savvy players. So I think as the game progresses and a best strategy gels, most will get on board. If not, well, it's only a game.

Quick buck or slower, long term investment.... hmmmmm...

Is it bad that I think of my nerds as "revenge bait"? Really, I just send 1-3 nerds per town in the hopes that they'll come visit my town for revenge in which I then go back to their town for revenge and so on? I never have any expectation that the nerds will finish destroying their castles.

I feel like this has been somewhat successful for me.

This seems like a poor strategy if you're trying to finish the event, who knows there may be enough time left to do it this way. My strategy has been 3 nerds to every friend town, and I come back if possible and leave two more. That helps my neighbors plenty. I've no expectation that my nerds will win and I'm well on my way to the Hot Air Balloon. I use the red dice on random castles and that's it. I'm not overthinking this one, and I'm not going to do anything that will lower my rewards, thus all shields will be tapped as soon as I see them.
