I agree that the gates and towers are a tad overpriced, but the wall sections seem fine.
I'd also be perfectly fine with the current model, as long as upgrades from 11-20 awarded additional walls/towers/gate. I think 3 of the upgrades could have been modified to add in additional walls, towers, gate. I think if it was planned to have like 20 pieces of wall (total), 4 towers (total) and 2 gates (total) for both boxingham and recycled tower - I would think that is sufficient for most castles. Then if the player wants more pieces, then they can purchase them for donuts.

I agree. There doesnt seem to be much point in upgrading past level 10 since you have to spend donuts to expand no matter what. While i might not call it an unusual case of greed, its clear EA dEsigned this update with full intent that players would feel obligated to spend donuts to finish all three castles since they were able to finish one. Personally, i would rather they had released a new premium character or building instead of using this approach. Im finishing the quest because i find it amusing, but ill probably quit the game of clones aspect once i get the last prize and wait for the next update.
I do find it amusing though that the same ones who adamantly defend this update vehemently denounce FTQFS for prompting players to spend real money. TSTO has flat out done the same thing many times including this update. I'm about to finish claiming ever available item in the FTQFS except one and never spent a single clam (except for a premium character i really wanted but wasnt essential, and id earned enough free clams to afford him). Ive said before and i'll say again, the simpsons are still and always my favorite, but i think tinyco won this round for playability. To each his own, though
