How many free towers, walls and gates do you get?

You get three free towers and one free gate per castle, with the third tower for each castle coming as the prize for 22,000 gold. Extra towers, walls, and gates for the first castle can be bought with elixir. Extra towers, walls, and gates for Boxingham and Recycle Castles cost donuts, although I've read on here that you can get walls for free once the castles are upgraded to Level 20.

Yup, although "free" in this context means "105000 elixer."

Also note that it is 105,000 PER wall piece PER castle. That means if you wanted 5 extra walls for Boxingham Palace you would need to amass 525,000 elixir to do so once that castle got past level 20.

This has to be a mistake- right? Looks like they accidentally typed an extra zero in there. Hopefully EA will fix this.

I'm not going to put in a week's worth of playing time just to earn one more wall piece. My game will end when I reach this point unless that changes.

I think you might be wrong there. The 105,000 is for the castle upgrade, at which point you get 1 castle wall.... the next upgrade would be higher (i presume) than 105,000 which means if you want 5 extra walls you are going to need a much greater amount than 525,000.
