I got nothing against the US but I don't understand their gun control. Here in Canada you have to jump thru hoops to get a handgun and part of the licensing process includes your medical history. From what I have seen its much easier to obtain one in the states.
The selling of assault rifles ill never understand. I'm sure in 100 years ppl will look back at that and shake their heads.
My condolences go out to those effected.
The whole guns don't kill ppl.. Ppl kill ppl saying is stupid. Ppl with guns kill ppl.
I don't think as many ppl would have died if he stormed in there with a butcher knife. We can never stop the violence but we could control the extent and amount of it.
Or do what Chris tucker says... Make guns dirt cheap but charge $50k for a bullet lol.

Stolen guns. And it was hand guns, not "assault rifles" which is a scary way to say this gun chambers a rifle round. But this wasn't my point....
Unfortunently my country that I served has gone to crap. It's a sad state of affairs when in a weeks time a mall gets shot up and now 20 children will not be able to live thier lives along with the adults that were murdered today. 20 children woke up this morning thinking that it was 12 days till Santa comes now because some s cumbag who was ticked at his mommy and daddy will never have another Christmas. This country (US) has gone down the toilet big time. As a country we are always making excuses for ones actions and then when the person who commits the violent crime they live in a country club prison. In about 6 months time we had the movie theater massacare and now this. I don't even know what to say except to all those that lost someone today god bless and I am sorry and you are in my prayers.
I spent the day volunteering at my sons school. Then I got home and saw the news. He's the age of many of these victims. The same age of my nieces and nephews. I can only image the pain those parents are feeling. My heart broke for them.
I can't imagine what makes a person do such a horrendous thing.
Ban guns. This sort of thing doesn't really happen in England, in fact I doubt there has been a school shooting here (may be wrong but I certainly don't remember one)
To the person that posted about gun laws. Yes we have them here in the US but unfortunently any * can go into the gun store and buy an assault rifle as lobg as they have ID. In terms of handguns most states require you to have a pistol permit signed by a judge before you can buy one. The problem is that you can go to most ghetto's and buy a handgun or assault rifle off the street.
Not defending this mad man but all those guns were purchased legally bu his mother. (Her fault for not securing them in the house with a mentally unstable child) And I think it was Chris Rock that said to make bullets cost a million bucks

You know, I have friends who live in England. There will always be violence. They told me that instead of guns, they use hammers and other items to harm each other. I'm not condoning the use of guns. However, I was in the Navy and my spouse has been in the Navy for 14 years. My husband has fought for the right and freedom of others.
I support the 2nd amendment, however, I will be the first to say that there needs to be stricter laws. Make it harder to obtain guns and make the punishments harsher for those who have illegal guns. Finally, there is absolutely no need for anybody to have any sort of assault weapon.
A responsible parent teaches his/her children about guns and locks them up in a gun case. My father taught me about guns (he's an avid hunter) all throughout childhood and I respect guns. I have taught my daughters about guns because I am a police officer on the SWAT Team I have weapons secured in my home. It's about responsibility and safety when it comes to guns.
I think this is too contentious and political to be in this forum (my opinion, I know).
I will say this, that nut job in Norway killed dozens of people (with guns and explosives) and they have pretty restrictive laws and gun controls.
If you are a deranged, mentally ill person and want to kill, it is not always easy to stop you. Look what a couple guys with fertilizer and diesel oil did in OKC. How about a handful of guys with boxcutters on an airplane?
We need to keep guns out of the hands of the crazies, thats for sure.
Tbh I'm just so sad to hear what happened, especially when I heard the age of the children, half of them were so young and their lives were taken away so unfairly. I believe in the right of freedom but in the same case those children have a right to life. I just don't personally understand why the public would even want to carry guns. Army, yes. Police, yes. But the public, I just don't get it. The problem with guns is the potential damage they can do, of course other weapons can kill you but a gun is literally made to kill.
I'm not trying to insult anyone if you are a gun holder or believe in the right to have a gun, honestly I'm not, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just don't see how allowing guns to be legal is aiding anybody.
Sadly, this type of attack is not going to go away any time soon...
Sure, the ease in which you can buy a gun is part of the problem, but there are many other factors that contribute to this.
I grew up in the 70's, and we didn't have metal detectors in our schools, nor did we have "lockdown drills". (The biggest PITA we had to endure were fire drills in the winter when it was 30° outside...)
I'm sure it was just as easy to buy guns back then, but society in general wasn't as narcissistic as it is now.
The media will play up the tragedy (for their all-important ratings), and other unhinged individuals will see a similar attack as a way to get some notoriety into their otherwise obscure lives.
If your life is a mess and you want to kill yourself - go ahead.
An AR-15 is not an "assault rifle". Not to mention the alleged shooter
used two hand guns during the shooting, not an "assault rifle".
Gun control will not prevent these events from happening. Just look
up mass killings around the world and see how many happen with
butcher knives or meat cleavers.
Not to mention how many people died in the Oklahoma City bombing
and that didn't involve guns. Let's also stop saying "what has this world
come to". People have been killing people for thousands of years.
First thing I did when I got home was hug and kiss both my kids. What is this world coming to when you can't even go to elementary school safely?
Maybe it's my overwhelming Canuck-ness, but I see no reason why anyone NEEDS a gun. I can accept hunting rifles and shotguns for farmers and hunters, but handguns and assault rifles really aren't necessary for the hoi poloi.
As a mother of 3, I was shocked and horrified by today's events. My heart breaks for those parents who waited outside the school to get their children, only to find that they would never come home. I can only imagine how they must be feeling right now, how they will find the strength to get through the next days, weeks, even years.
While I know the gun control discussions are coming, for now I think we should all just take a break from the political aspects of this and send our thoughts to the families of today's needlessly fallen.

Just don't take any innocent lives with you...
That quote is from Chris Rock, one of his stand-up specials.
