I can already sense the influx of 'I'm sick of snow! I've completed all my christmas tasks! Christmas is over already! When's the next update???' posts.
I wondered if it was slow because it's a Saturday, but now I'm wondering if it's because everyone is nearing the end of their tasks. It will be interesting to see how the servers handle the Christmas rush, hopefully we will all come out reasonably sane.

The excess of coins posts have already started.
I suppose I was lucky enough to get a late start on Christmas. I still have 6-7 hours until my try-n-save is built. But I know that's about the last thing I will do as the funzos will be easily obtainable
I just hope the Xmas house skins are available past the New Year. Because Cletus and Muntz's houses are sooooooo keeping their lights up all year 'round.
At this rate, I'll consider it to be a Christmas miracle to get back in.
I guess it's a good thing that I don't consider it necessary to have the funzos or SLH. I just hope I'll still be able to buy the Try n' Save.
Aw Mickey no likey being locked out. I am so sorry to hear this Mike. I have been visiting daily and hope you will be able to get back soon.
I have experienced this myself and feel for you.
Have you tried to PM cshirleyea to see if he can help find a way to reset for you?
Doesn't hurt to ask.

My guess is that it will be up to us whether or not the houses have lights after Christmas. I think that is why we can toggle them on and off.

My thoughts exactly. The Hell House is still functional.
Sonny, your message took an unexpected twist there. I found yor references to the posts newbies make once the game drives them to desperately seek non-formulaic responses amusing. I thought the relaxation was to come from some announcement or insider's information on a solution, once and for all, for the game's instability. No such luck?
Looks like we're through the worst of the tidal influx of new players and the board is calming down again.
This obviously happens with each new month/update but I think the Christmas one has been the most intense so far.
Well, we're through to the other side, mostly unscathed. What's more, the frustration involved has resulted in new sticky threads and other highly useful sources of information being visible to newcomers and I think that's having a good effect on the tidyness of the board, so that's good.
Now we just have to take a breather and ready ourselves for what will no doubt be the biggest challenge yet: the week immediately starting from Christmas day. On that day millions of people will be receiving new iOS devices as gifts and promptly indulging in their first app binge. Considering the popularity of this app and the highly visible place it has on the app store, we're going to see a lot more new faces and no doubt a repeat of all the same annoyances we've grown to know.
To further exacerbate the problem it will be the holidays so EA will not be as well staffed or efficient in solving issues, including the big hit the servers will take as a result of the surge.
So happy holidays you lot, just expect bumpy seas when you're tapping in your post-Christmas dinner fog.
Thankfully most (if not all) of us who have been active here will have finished up the event by then, so at least we won't have to stress about Santa coins if the servers get overloaded. I just got SLH today (so cute!), so if it gets too crazy with newcomers trying to squeeze in Christmas tasks while it lasts, I might just take a hiatus for a few days and let them have my "spot". Less people trying to get on will make it easier (and less frustrating) for all involved, I think.

500 more coins and I'm done.
My poor coin generating Springfieldites have been slaving nonstop for me.
