Hmm, try downloading the Origin Client program (Windows only unfortunately). It's a better way of organising friends and invitations. It's good to clear them up and stay on top of them as they can cause all sorts of general instability.

Failing that, try accessing your account from another Origin game like Monopoly Hotels. That's worked for some.

You mention that you already have a lot of friends... Do you have 100? That is the limit, so if you try to accept more you will get a error.

Also, if that person who sent you the request has already hit the 100 cap, you will get an error.
