Fack! Does that mean I have to purposely go buy another iTunes card just to pay for the damn tax? Can I just put my credit card in and pay the remaining I owe after my iTunes credit?

Also thanks for the quick replies :)

I used an iTunes card for the $100 and bank card tied to my account for the tax.

    Thx spiff!

I just hope it doesn't charge the full amount to my credit card and get stuck with the $100 credit I have on my account.

Please don't take this the wrong way - I am simply really intrigued, but how do you justify spending $100 on essentially nothing?

I haven't spent any money on doughnuts, but it really intrigues me as to why people do spend money on it.

Again, please don't think I'm condemning you, I'm probably somewhat jealous

I use to feel the same exact way, I always thought to myself " I would never spend that much money on a free game"
But after all the time I spent on this game and still enjoying it, I just caved in and wanted to buy donuts. Maybe it was because I got my Christmas bonus and I was feeling rich but I don't mind paying for something I enjoy playing.

    I agree.

Really most entertainment is essentially paying money for nothing, if you don't count the entertainment value itself.

$100 may be a lot all at once, but it's saving money in the long run if you're reasonably confident you'll keep playing long enough to use up the donuts. I've bought some donuts, and I'm sure the $ per hour is quite low compared to a lot of stuff I've done for fun.

To the above poster who questioned spending real money on this game. Think avout this you go out to dinner, buy video games, go to the movies and do any other tging that is entertainment. Well to many this game is entertainment for them and therefore to them it's not spending money on nothing. If anything it's DLC for this game in a way that many video games offer such as the Call of Duty and Battlefield series offer with map/expansion packs. Thats my two cents on this matter.

It depends on your country's/state's laws on taxation on digital goods.

Also something else you may consider. If everyone decided not to spend any real money on donuts, then the game would not continue to progress and keep providing levels, as the developers require paying for the work.

My state charges tax for iTunes card purchases as well.

I also agree. I hate flushing $$ down the toilet for toilet tissue, but then, I wouldn't go back to the days before Pampers and Huggies, either. I'd save, but my quality of life would suffer. Therefore, I forgo the night out on the town once each month and, instead, splurge on my favorite games.

What I spend on doughnuts pales in comparison to what I've spent on custom content for The Sims 3, or DLC for my favorite RPGs. . .

I agree as well, I spent my first $20 last night and bought enough donuts to get Auto and his bus, Dr. Nick, the Bumblebee Man and a reindeer. Considering how stressful my job can get as a case manager I realized that taking a break during work to check on my Springfield is made all the better when I see them in my town.

The same way anyone who buys anything justifies their purchase. It feels good to get something you want.

Once you cave in and spend money on donuts once...it's really a slippery slope from then on.

I've spent a lot more than I had ever intended, but frankly once I got a few premium buildings and characters I wanted them all. They make my town look epically SEXUAL.

The most ridiculous purchase was 50 donuts on a Funzo because I wasn't going to spend santa coins on on of the others.

I justify it though because it's something I enjoy. If it provides entertainment and you can afford it then why not?!

With regards to tax, in the UK we include our 'Tax' (VAT) in the total price - a difference that really confused me when I went to NYC last Xmas. So yes, I guess we all pay tax on donuts essentially.

Are you asking me what I meant by that or what I've bought?

The answer to the first is "the premium items enhance the general look and feel of my town," and the second is "everything except the butterfly house, flower planter and bench with jacket as I dislike or view them as pointless"

Honestly to end this justification topic I say this:

    A) Are we married that I have to account to you what and how I spend the money I earn?

    B) it's my money and I will spend it how I choose

    C) Mind your flippin business
