If you leave it alone for 4 hours your neighbor gets the max award. If you tap it you and neighbor share the reward. I don't see anything wrong with tapping it.

Seems way easier to share by tapping than by keeping track of who egg-dropped you and reciprocating a drop.

the best thing to do is to try to drop eggs in a town when you think they are sleeping so that you get the maximum reward

I just tap the gremliens. I try to remember the neighbor's name, return the favor and leave my own gremlien egg in their town later.

Same here. I make a mental note of the neighbor who sent me the alien and I try to send them one back as soon as I can. Except my one friend sent me 20 of them yesterday (you're the best CT) so it may take a while for me to pay them back lol. But I definitely tap those grem-aliens!
